Ah, Onondaga - that narrows it down. They were one of the five founders of the Haudenosaunee, preferred to Iroquois as that is an uncomplementary phrase in an Algonquin language and butchered by the French. Their turf is centered around Syracuse NY. look at onondaganation.org
