Would a book based in a post-apocalyptic world be too "cliche"?

I agree with izzybot. I am writing one interesting short story. It is what is most on people's minds unfortunately. I have a lovely optimistic character named Cherish. I am trying to make it as realistic as possible. Thank God I am taking Genetics I next semester. It should give me prospective on ALL that I write.

I lose. From my sister, a senior editor at a textbook publisher and Gen Xer:

"Hmm....don't know if I've heard that. Technically it is an adjective, right? "That phrase is so cliché," modifies "phrase," right?"

I won't bring it up again (but will never, ever use the word as an adjective).
