I know the most of the writers here do write because of their longing for writing but I am curious to know, have some writers earned any profit of their writing up to now? Explain please how ?
I sold 80 million and 4 copies of my blockbusting trilogy and it was then turned into a movie starring Brad Pit and Gweneth Paltrow. It grossed $250 squillion on its opening weekend and went on to smash all other records since. Part 2 is due out in Julember. We have no set date for part 3 but I will keep you informed.

I wrote a column in my own publication for 10 out of 11 years. I became jaded at one point and took some time away from writing. Ad sales dropped along with subscriptions. At that point I realized I was getting paid for my writing all along. I was the last one to figure that out. I just never thought of myself as a writer. I was just a guy fulfilling his duty to his company and was obligated to fill the space of From the Publisher. I've done ad writing and marketing pieces for hire many times. I had a shot at pitching the writing of "Conversations With God" screen play some years ago. And I pitched a couple screen plays along the way. But nothing paid there. I write news for the local paper sometimes for free because they don't have the manpower to cover everything. And I get politically motivated to write Letters to the Editor from time to time, they always get published. I'm shooting to finish up a couple novels and shine up the screen plays to put out there again. I've had more success publishing my own work. It is more satisfying. I think I'll find some money there once I get to that point. After reading posts in this forum, for which I am very grateful, I will be getting back in touch with an agent I know and see about shopping my work around while I ready myself to do the publishing myself.
