    Hello from Korea!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Babo, Sep 11, 2019.

    Hello!

I'm new here, so I thought I should introduce myself. It's taken me a couple of days to actually get around to writing this message, which is a perfect illustration of the lethargic approach I have towards writing at the moment.

My deeply artistic writer's block My laziness is the primary reason that I've signed up here. I hope that being surrounded by lots of talented and passionate people will motivate me to write more regularly. I'd love to publish something one day, but for now I'd be delighted to simply rediscover my old habit of writing for writing's sake.

As the thread title states, I'm currently living in Korea, but I'm not actually Korean, just in case you were briefly impressed by my English! English is my native language, so you actually have full permission to scoff at my clunky writing :)

Anyway, feel free to say hello! I'm looking forward to meeting you all :)

Welcome! I'm Iain, one of the mods here. If you haven't had a chance to yet, be sure to check out New Member Quick Start and Forum Rules, and don't be shy about contacting me or one of the other active mods (jannert and big soft moose at the moment) if you have any questions or problems.

You'll need to have two weeks' membership, twenty posts (which include two constructive critiques of others' writing) before you can post in the Workshop for critique of your own work, but until then, feel free to poke around and jump into any one of the numerous discussions that are ongoing here. Those initial requirements will fly by.

Sorry it took so long to say Hello back to you, it's been a busy week here in mod-land, but I'd like to extend a special welcome to you as a fellow expat. I'm an American who's been in Japan for lo these long years, but a long time ago I studied Korean. And I know what your handle means :). So welcome aboard, and we look forward to seeing you about the forums!

Thanks for the welcome, Iain and Moon :)

I haven't made my way over to Japan yet, but I hear a lot of good things about it from people who have. I bet it's a really interesting place to live. Learning Korean is difficult enough for me; I imagine speaking Japanese is a massive challenge!
