    Fugazi...

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by MKCathcart, Feb 27, 2014.

I'm thinking of a name for my book and like the sound of, 'The Fugazi of Room 39,' (Room 39 being a government body in Korea) but being perfectly honest was sure if it made sense. I understand fugazi to mean a fake or fraudulent show but was looking for peoples opinion if it actually made sense.

It makes sense to me. I have to say I've never used the word in any other connotation than as an equivalent to 'fubar', but you are using it in it's truest sense.

@mammamaia. I think you might be surprised. There was a very influential rock band that named their album Fugazi,. There exists even now a band that goes by that name, and it's also the name of a type of landmine.

Yeah, I was going to say that my only connection with the word is through the band of the same name, of which I was quite enamored for a time. ;)

I really like Fish's lyrics. They came at a time when when the superficial New Romantic era was in it's heyday and in the wake of the Falklands war. Coleridge and Melville even get a head nod. ;)

Never did get into the sound of the New Romantics period. I went right from ABBA as a kid to New Order. My love for New Order and their prior incarnation, Joy Division was pathological. From there I moved to Germany and traded my New Order needle for a deeper injection of FRONT242 and Nitzar Ebb, and.... ah, youth. :)

I always loved marillion, fish wad genius, too many greats to mention but I still have the cd, fugazi - and what's really weird is, when I saw this title post I read fugazi in fish's accent because the double cd is live!

Hi, welcome to the forum. Is the story written? I think that title is intriguing enough for a person to pick up the book and read the synopsis. Without knowing the story it's hard to say if it fits the book or not.

    I'm Welsh - and proud!

And this might be a good way to attract readers to pick up the book. :)

Yes the book is finished and i'm about to send it out. I had it as 'Room 39' to begin with but thought 'The Fugazi of Room 39,' sounded more intriguing.
