Day two of no power for Puerto Rico

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Wreybies, Sep 22, 2016.

Long story, short: a fire in the main distro station in Aguirre cut electricity at the source for the entire island of Puerto Rico yesterday afternoon. No power anywhere on the island save for those businesses with their own generators. Internet sources say that hopefully tomorrow power will be restored. We'll have to wait and see....

I hope this doesn't come off as too naive or disrespectful, but if I lived in Puerto Rico and the power was out, I would just go to the beach.

This would actually be an exellent idea if not for there being no traffic lights. Getting to the beach today would be impossible.

This is awful! I would describe a gas shortage here in TN (everyone fell apart & panicked) but it would seem trite compared to this.

That...really sucks. A whole country without power? O__O Geez, I hope things get better over there, dude.

Power is back up where I live (Caguas), for now, but it's come and gone a a few times already since last night. There's very little news from AEE (the power company) as to what's going on. Knowing how things go here, the rolling blackouts that persist as of today are because the "fix" is a very slipshod "hanger and duct-tape" affair and in no way is it something that can be counted on to stand.
