I don't think I'll be able to name 10, but worth a shot. I'm assuming you mean tracks and albums from 2007, not just ones we enjoyed this year-

    Tracks, in no order-

    1. KT Tunstall - Suddenly I see
    2. Daughtry - It's Not Over
    3. P!nk - Who Knew
    4. P!nk - Nobody Knows
    5. Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around Comes Around
    6. Michael Buble - Everything
    7. Katie Noonan - Send Out a Little Love
    8. Kanye West - Stronger
    9. Celine Dion - Taking Chances
    10. Snow Patrol - Hands Open
    11. Kyle Minogue - 2 Hearts
    12. Timbaland - Apologize

    Albums, in no order-
    1. Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future
    2. Hairspray Soundtrack?
    3. Maroon 5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long
    4. Evanescence - the Open Door

And that's all I could come up with. I don't listen to albums much.

I know I have awful taste in music.

    5. The Origins of Ruin - Redemption
    4. Paradise Lost - Symphony X
    3. Dark Passion Play - Nightwish
    2. Systematic Chaos - Dream Theater
    1. Blackbird - Alter Bridge

I really like Rob Zombie's live album, but I'm not a big fan of recent music.
Oh, and I swear, if anyone says Soulja Boy...

Wow, excellent choices there, Gannon! Amazingly, I haven't heard many of your song choices but I certainly know the albums.

    TRACKS:

    10) Small Sins - On the Line
(It gets in for being ambitious enough to completely slow the song down and speak its creepy lyrics)

    9) The Killers - Glamorous Indie Rock And Roll
(Re-released on Sawdust so technically it can be here)

    8) Blonde Redhead - The Dress
(I could've also chosen either '23', 'Spring and by Summer Fall', or 'Silently')

    7) Ghosts - The World is Outside
    (Happy song)

    6) Arcade Fire - Intervention
    (Epic and inspiring)

    5) Eisley - Invasion
(Really strong single on an otherwise pretty average album)

    4) Editors - The Racing Rats
(Subtly epic - if that's possible, but excellent)

    3) The Enemy - You're Not Alone
(The final minute in this song is amazing)

    2) Editors - An End Has A Start
(I don't actually think it's been released as a single yet, but it's my favourite off the album)

    1) Ravens & Chimes - This Is Where We Are
(Newly released debut album and this song is the only really good one, and man is it powerful)

    ALBUMS:

    10) Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
    9) The National - Boxer
    8) Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
    7) Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
    6) Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
    5) Blonde Redhead - 23
    4) Okkervil River - The Stage Names
    3) Radiohead - In Rainbows
    2) Interpol - Our Love to Admire
    1) Editors - An End Has A Start

Other worthy mentions: Bloc Party, Ghosts, Maximo Park

Big year in music. I found a liking for a lot of bands. Editors became my favourite band after their new album, which sported a more 'epic' sound. They overtook Interpol, whose album I really liked but no one else seemed to. I, surprisingly, enjoyed the garage rock on Era Vulgaris and Radiohead continued to be great with In Rainbows.

If you have a passion for Indie Rock then please check out some of these bands!

Edit: Bat For Lashes album 'Fur and Gold' would make it on my album list, and their song 'What's A Girl to Do?' is up there on my track list. Check out the music video for it ... weird.

Expatriate song 'The Spaces Between' is a Top 3 track contender as well.

Bluemouth - a fine selection - you have tipped me over into getting Okkervil River - I'd not taken the plunge but enjoyed Shearwater - so your immaculate taste (near enough - The Enemy?) swayed me.

I'd also like to big up the Black Kids Ep - Wizard of Ahhhs which is excellent and available for free and legal download on the interweb if you are interested (details available through Myspace I think)

Gannon, forgive me re: The Enemy (only one song that I like), after that I 'Had Enough'. ;)

Although I'd love to recommend Okkervil River's latest album, it wasn't as fulfilling as Black Sheep Boy. If you haven't heard that one yet then definitely give it a go. 'For Real' is my favourite song, but BSB also has a couple other really upbeat tracks like 'Black' that hide a solemn message in the lyrics. All good stuff, hope you enjoy.

Shearwater has Will Sheff, don't they? Apparently they're a slower band who essentially have the same sound. I heard 'Seventy-Four, Seventy-Five' - great song.

I'll give the Black Kids EP a shot, I like your music taste so I have faith in you. :)

Edit: I listened to some of the Mountain of One album - great sound; 'Innocent Line' is superb.

PrincessGarnet - very jealous you're going to Smashing Pumpkins - quite a reasonable return for them this year too - especially considering the Zwan incident a couple of years back.

Bluemouth - you'd absolutely do well to download Black Kids - top stuff. Yeah - Will Sheff is in Shearwater - there album is a bit bloated as it's 2 Cds but when it's good it's very good, chilled and slower and quiter than Okkervil.

Re: Mountain of One - their album is a collection of 4 I think Eps and Ride #1 is great in my opinion - just confirmed which Innocent Line is and that is good too - there is one other really good track on that album but for the life of me I can't remember which one - it is a bit hit and miss the album - hence it's not in my top ten albums - but when it hits it's definitely worth a listen - hence Ride my #1 track of the year!

Just before the New Year, Bat For Lashes has made my Top 10 easily. I can't believe I avoided them for so long. Such strange music clips as well.

I also forgot the Expatriate song 'The Spaces Between'.

A fine selection Raven - it's a pity really it isn't 86/87 then some of your choices would have had excellent material rather than just good.

Bluemouth - I enjoyed the Bat for Lashes album too and perhaps I ovelooked it in the Gannon awards ...

Also been enjoying the O'Death album today - bluegrass features heavily as does blues country but all in a good alt. rock kind of way.

    I agree.

back in 86 was when The mission grew with a large fan base and bands like marillion where just starting to set the way while the Cult were kicking there way through with a new sound. I lived through the 80s with great pride.
