    your favourite villain?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by katina, Dec 22, 2018.

    in books or movies?

Mine is The Joker in The Dark Knight just because.
Fancy having a clown for a bad ass. The make up is out of bound effective but runny.

In a similar vein to The Joker, I'll say Kefka from Final Fantasy 6. He breaks the world, casting it into ruin, and making himself god of it for not much more than his own amusement.

In books... the name that comes most to mind is Regal, from the Farseer Trilogy. I can think of plenty of god-like villains in epic fantasy who have their own wicked plans. But to me the scariest are the ones who are either so crazy or venal that they just don't care. Regal is who he is not because of some overarching agenda. Just because he is a small, jealous, hateful man. But he got a lot of power and just started ruining things for everyone.

This is a great little story. Kafka is justified in a way and he gets it. The fact that everything turns to ruin because of too much power makes sense. I agree the scariest are the one who have no sense of care not because they don't want to but because they do not know how to because it is out of hand.

I really like Loki. He is definitely my all time favorite. In the book and in the movies. If somebody curios there is a book by Neil Gaiman "Norse Mythology" where he is one of the characters. But in movies his character is more interesting. All this lies that he can create, illusions. And thanks to Tom Hiddleston he is very charming.

    Bosambo.

He's both hero and villain. In fact he is all possible opposites at the same time.

Dortmunder + Kelp + Stan Murch + his mother + Tiny Bulcher... Like family members... Lovable villains.

    Peppone. See above.

Svejk. Much like Bosambo but nothing like that at all.

Rincewind, Lipwig von Moist, Nobby Knobs, hero-antihero -types.

(I start to see a pattern...)

    Isaskar Keturi...

    That's a good one...

Hmmmm... this is a toughy... my favorite villain... :superthink:

    Let's see:

Magneto comes mind, since is some what sympathetic as well.

There is King Einon from Dragonheart who was rather sadistic and gave me one of my favorite lines. "Death is a Release not a Punishment" .... and once of his lackeys kept saying "Pheasant Scum" but I constantly make fun of the way he said it, saying "Phesant Skoom" ... plus his death is ironic, which I enjoyed. Even he as he died felt the embarrassment of it. Ironically, Enion makes the bases for a lot of my own villains including a Psychopathic Serial killing Prince who is actually the anti-hero of the story..

The Master from Fallout 1... since again a villain who 1) doesn't' know they are a villain 2) makes a good argument for what they are doing, even if it's misguided.

Pagan Min from Far Cry 4... haven't played the game yet, but something special about Pagan. Since I know you can do his ending.. .which is the "good" ending... I am going with him.

Ghaleon from Lunar Silver Star... again another sympathetic character who in a sense has gone mad and became spiteful, hating the thing he vowed to serve.

I think that is enough for now. :p

One is from a manga series created by Kentaro Miura called Berserk. If I say who it'll spoil the series for anyone who hasn't read it, but he's probably my favorite villain next to, say, The Master from the game Fallout 1.

That was very hard to nail down to just a possible two. :p

In film, my favorite villain is Captain Vidal in Pan's Labyrinth. If you've seen the film, you know the things he did and how he represents pure evil which is how villains are supposed to be.
