    Your last purchase

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by OurJud, Aug 11, 2015.

Stolen form another forum, as so many of these silly threads are.

Let us see what you've treated yourself to.

Just ordered one of these so I can listen to my music while writing. It has a memory stick slot, so I can fill my 8GB stick with about 2,500 songs and not have to worry about changing discs, etc. And in case you're wondering why I don't simply play them from my PC, that's because my PC is crap and can just about handle a single word document. If I had media player running in the background, too, I think it would melt.[IMG]

Four gig of RAM for my laptop so I can run the 64-bit version of Windows 10.

Maybe you should have bought a new PC instead. :p

Speaking of which, the last thing I can remember "treating myself to" was, in fact, my current laptop. But that was over a year ago. I must have bought something in the time since then...

If I could find a new PC for forty-quid - which is what I paid for the CD player - I would have, believe me!

I think the last thing I bought for myself was one of those drying frames, or whatever it's called, to hang the laundry on while it dries. Before that, it was a really silly glas bird decoration thing.

My new Lenovo something or other laptop. Apparently it's a good laptop. Better fucking be for £500!

A frivolity purchase rather than an "all my underwear is wearing out" type purchase?

An aluminum clipboard and some notebooks so that I can try writing by hand, just for the novelty.

Before that, in case that isn't frivolous enough, four perfume decants. (A "decant" is where someone divides up a bottle of perfume into a bunch of itty bitty bottles and sells you one of those itty bottles.) 2 milliliters each of Byredo Pulp, CB I Hate Perfume Grass, Serge Lutens Chene, and Serge Lutens de Profundis. Mmm.

Just half an hour ago I bought some garlic naan, sag paneer, chicken korma, and some pakoras. Now, instead of getting more work done, I'd like to go home and nap.

My last non-essential purchase was Harley Quinn Vol. 1 (Hot in the City) and Volume 2 (Power Outage). I'm on a comic book kick at the moment. It's hot, I'm a roller derby girl (relevant to the book, if you're not familiar) and I felt like I deserved to indulge a guilty pleasure.

Literal last thing I purchased: butter to make icing for bake sale cupcakes.

@ChickenFreak How in the world do I not know what a "decant" is? You have done a public service. I need to look into this.

It's been a while but for treating myself I have to say tickets for me, my son and his girlfriend to see The Book of Mormon. So worth it. :D

Woolen top x 2. I love wool. Since the el cheapo Aldi up the road started selling it during this Winter I have been on a buying binge. If I can wear wool all the time at least on top, I will. :D

Macpac sabre soft shell jacket. I've never had a soft shell before, and it's probably not so good, but much cheaper than what I wanted to get.

I bought a pair of these sandals off eBay. They look sort of like these, but the fron of the sandal has the straps at an angle. I love them.

Lately, I've been selling rather than buying... three guitars, a few video cards, the food processor, a couple of cameras, the TV, some odds and ends of furniture, the coffee grinder and my car.

So, I guess my treat is higher numbers in my bank account. :)

I don't know how you can. I'm too hot in a t-shirt... in the middle of winter. Just the thought of wearing wool makes me hot and claustrophobic.

    1. The wool is very thin (thinner than a cotton t-shirt).
    2. Don't turn the heater on.

If you're hot and claustrophobic when it's 11C then yes, we are very different creatures. Wool pwns cotton into the ground :D
