    Blood: Submissions submissions submissions.

Valkyries: So, this seems to be the thing I'm writing ATM. Humor is fun, and easy.

    Blood:
    Querying.

Valkyries: A couple of characters met: cop and mechanic. They like each other, but for different reasons that aren't apparent to the other. Also, one was shot in the head. She's fine; she backed herself up before stepping out of the car.

Valkyries: A chapter and a half? Yeah, this is great.

    Blood: Can you say... Query?

Valkyries: Chapter and a half, plus some editing of past bits. Good stuff.

Doodad: Hey, someone bought a paperback! All sales so far have been kindle ebooks, which makes sense, but it's neat someone bought a hard copy. Now they get to enjoy that sweet, frictiony, Matte cover.

Valkyries: I did not write today. This is bad, I know, but I got caught up researching weird cyberpunk technology for the next Act of the book, and got sucked into a knowledge hole.

    Hey, congrats! :cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

Nope, it's not bad that you were researching. You've more than proven yourself to be highly focused when it comes to writing. Research counts as writing time and probably helped recharge your creative batteries...

...although, your creative batteries seem rather like the ones that power the Energizer Bunny.

Congrats on your book sale, again, Zoup.

Thanks! I'm honestly more pumped that they bought a physical copy of the book, over the fact that I sold a book. I always buy physical copies. I just like to actually possess the physical thing.

I didn't come up with the advice I'm about to give, and if I remember who it is I'll say, but basically: If I told you to engage in a slightly irritating chemical treatment twice a day for about 15 minutes, for the rest of your entire life, for marginal health benefits, would you do it?

If you say no... are you sure, because I just described brushing your teeth. For most of you, I'm sure brushing isn't even a thing anymore. It's just a habit you have.

So... What if I told you to sit down and write for about thirty minutes every day, for the rest of your life...

Valkiries: Bout a chapter and a half again, plus some re-plotting. I'm writing the chapters out of order now, because I gotta think up how to write a huge, gaudy, concert/betrayal reveal/lover's falling out/arrest of a sentient eyeball drone by bodycam-wearing fetish police scene... thingy.

Like... do I describe the warblimp first... or the way the pointman's hair flips all wet and hot and shit when he pins the drone against the hood of the car to search it for drugs?

Against my own advice, I did not write much this weekend. I spent time constructing a new bed for our youngest, reading, or working out. Pretty relaxing.

    Valkyries: Wrote half a chapter,

War Horror: Remember this? It's right behind you... I wrote synopses for all the shorts, a description of each short's monster, and the war metaphor it represents.

Blood: Yawn. Tonight I had to do a really specific submission method, using a website's built-in query program. Took me a long time.

I know it hurts your mind, but just remember, clear front sight tip. Stop looking for the little red dot and learn to shoot like a man. Clear front sight tip, BRASS. :)

    You'll get there.

    Mostly training today. However...

War Horror: Further outlining. As with A Spell of Blood, I highlighted which elements of the horror stories will focus on the grotesque, the horrific, and the terrifying.

Remember the bullets go in the magazine horizontally with the pointy ends towards the front :D

Whealp, it's official. I wasn't sure at first, but I've confirmed it last and this week. I'm deploying again. The workup's already started. I've got a team to line up and training to organize. Lots of meetings.

Good news is deployments make Marines. I'll get a lot of credibility and experience, plus getting to do my job for real instead of the endless limbo of training is always good.

Bad news, obviously, is that this will put a hamper on a lot of my creative output, Once I go out of country I'll likely be very busy.

    "Keep this candle burning
    Bright in the window
    It's the only light
    I'll see tonight"

But yeah, keep your head down and all that. I know I gave you a little shit about how things were "back in the Old Corps," but remember, I scored Expert with this baby practically every place they sent me.
