The beginning

Well, part of my first chapter is posted in the reviews forum for novels now. Not hearing much back, presumably due to the large size of the writing.
I feel that the past needed to be explained before the androids were 'revealed' as it were, to show them as superior or remarkable, though it seems to make the beginning dull, and as we all know, the beginning is often the most important part of a novel.
The story isn't really underway yet. It won't get underway until the police investigate a murder scene.
