The mere fact this site exists is proof that we are all slightly addicted.

I'm just keeping a record of my smartest posts and plan some day to have them published. So far I have one after over 3,200 total posts. I should be ready to be published by the time the internet is extinct.

I know, but I think they would like us to spend some time writing, not use this site as a crutch to not write. :D :p "No, I can't write, I want to talk about stuff in the Lounge area first!"

We're growing into Plato's allegorical cave. However, it will be the glow in front of us, not the fire behind us that creates our reality.

I've never heard of this "Chris-lee" of whom you speak. Not having cable does a lot to a person.

He's very rich, has a huge house, and he is about as metrosexual as they come.

One of his lines about his daughter's sweet 16 dress, "Class, not ass!"

    Oh, that type.

Does being rich make him metrosexual or does being metrosexual make him rich?

No he made his money in real estate I believe. What makes him metrosexual is he comes across as a total mix between a man and women in his knowledge and actions.

The guy on "Flipping Vegas" on A&E is kind of metrosexual too.

Well, by definition I don't think it's a "knowable" number or percentage, though clearly it is a real phenomenon and exists. It's a thing. I tend to take a Kinseyan attitude on the subject:

    1) Clearly there are gay men and women who are in str8 relationships for many reasons. They aren't going to admit, else why have entered into the str8 relationship in the first place? We know they are there because we see them precipitate out of these relationships, in divorce, at a rate that is also probably unknowable since the original number of all such individuals is a hidden number.

    2) Do we or don't we separate out those individuals who are happy in their str8 relationships, but would have been predisposed to either a str8 or gay relationship, and simply nixed the one choice as being too costly?

    3) There is the objective reality of the actual phenomenon and then the subjective reality of social lying, which was the heart of Kinsey's research when he discovered that the idealized norm that pretty much everyone was espousing as "this is who we are as a People" bore little resemblance to the autonomous truth.

That's just it, only they do the Garball 'pants check' people can easily lie on the Kinsey scale.

Of course they can. There are people in this forum, right now, as we speak, who have sworn to never even having had the remotest of gay thoughts and have actually gone the whole nine yards (inches?) with someone of the same sex. The law of probability guarantees it.

Does it work in both directions? Are there members of the gay community that precipitate out into the streight?

Sounds like 36 inches is too much.

Um... If I get your meaning correctly, then that's what happened when the people of whom we are speaking married someone of the opposite sex to begin with. I guess the ones who answer to your question are the ones who stay in their relationships to the end. I have an uncle like that. I know he's gay. He's told me as much. But he's devoted to his family and his reasons for staying in the relationship have to do with that devotion he has now, not because it's what he would have chosen at the start, had that choice been viable, which in the Puerto Rico of 45-ish years ago it was most certainly not.

No I think he means like how you are in a relationship with your husband, but say you ran into a bombshell chick on the beach and she talked you into hitting it and you hid it from your husband.

Edit: That could possibly be the worst sentence I have written on this forum. I'm not going to edit it though.

Well, I think me cheating on my husband with a girl is a different phenomenon than gays and lesbians being pressured by society to pass as str8. The fact that I see a rack walk by that's sweet enough to make me cheat on William just makes me a really shitty husband, it doesn't alter the paradigm of my sexuality or the paradigm of how/why I got into a relationship with William in the first place.

Well I think Garball is asking if it happens and how often you think it happens. Does it happen as often as a husband or wife cheating with a homosexual rendezvous , or less than one.

Or are you maybe asking me if there are str8s pretending to be gay to fit in with gay society? My answer is a very qualified yes. Seriously. No snark intended at all.

The college years, bro. I think I was more aware of it because I was older when I went to university. I was 27, but good genes had me looking 20. The "kids" accepted me right in as one of their own and not one of the "old people going back to school". I did actually meet young str8 men who were clearly involving themselves in the gay community for any number of reasons. One of the most common reasons, and scariest in retrospect, was drugs. If you wanted super clean, white Mitsubishis, the gay club was where you got them. Felt like dancing with Tina? Gay club. And what happens after you've eaten 3 white Mitsubishis or talked to Tina for a while? Sex. And what happens when the drug induced okay-ness of sex with another dude becomes your drug-habit norm?

God, there is so a book in the above paragraph needing written.:cool:
