I have an inspection next month of my apartment, on my birthday. I've had some extra energy today so I organized my desk and fixed up a little display for my gem collection that I put up a picture in the Tavern picture gallery that no one has liked or commented on (Yeah a sympathetic plug, deal with it! :)). Then I threw out a bunch of card board and trash in my room and cleaned out some drawers. Then I did all the dishes and threw out some cardboard trash in the kitchen. I cleaned the stove and the kitchen table and I'm getting everything ready to sweep and use the steam shark on the floor tomorrow, and do some laundry.

My room mate is complaining that we have a month to get things done, which pisses me off. All I asked him to do was wipe some of the doors and walls, clean out some cob webs, clean his bathroom and the fridge. I've done everything else. This is going to be a long month, and I'll bet you dollars to donuts I end up doing it all.

Oh hooray, the drapes my dog barfed on when he barfed over the back of the couch last night have a label that says they're machine washable. They're in the washer now. :D

I submitted an anime confession to this site a while back. At first, it wasn't posted, so I assumed it would never be. I checked again today and there it was! I was so happy when I saw it (and the number of likes/reblogs it got) that I almost started crying because it was about how this one character really helped me and how much I love him.

Follow up: Don't believe every 'fabric can be washed' label you read. :(

The drapes are clean and hanging back up but they look like the drapes in a really low rent apartment, light shining through dozens of holes in the backing.

Oh well, the choice was go buy new ones or try to wash them. I'm not out much more than I would have been anyway.

Nope you can't start writing until you have the book cover and the stuff written for the back of the book. It's the law.

No street, I'm on a hill and the picture window on that side opens up to a side garden, the top of the neighbor's roof just over the fence and mostly beautiful big sky. This house is well designed, the bedrooms face the street but there are trees and bushes in between the house and the street. The living room is in the back of the house. One wall is the window I described and another wall has a large picture window that overlooks the back yard and the forest behind the house.

You forgot to mention that it also has more locks than the Panama Canal.

@GingerCoffee I guess now you'll have to wash the carpet so everything matches. [IMG]

I lucked out on that. Nothing made it all the way to the carpet.

Why aren't scientists working on genetically-engineering a dog that doesn't puke? 'Cause that would be great. :p

That's good so the drapes still match the carpet. That's important.

Started a new job today in the de-boxing department of a book distribution warehouse. We take books that are either publisher overflow, didn't sell very well, or damaged and sort/reprice them for places like Big Lots, Dollar Tree, and Amazon. De-box basically involves taking pallets of unopened boxes from publishers like Signet, Bantum, Random House, and others, cutting them open, dumping their contents onto long metal tables, then loading the books onto pallets or "skids" for processing. They are then de-skidded, sorted, stickered, re-skidded, and sent to distribution where they are loaded onto trucks and sent to their respective vendors.

Sounds like a waste of time. Why can't the people at the destination stores not just take the initial pallets and put a new price tag over the old one?

Edit: It's good that you have a new job that you might like better than the old one though. How close is it to the liquor store? :p

Laziness maybe? Or maybe they just don't have the resources. We ship nationwide at a rate of 20,000+ books per day just in our department alone. This warehouse is 900,000 square feet and employs over 300 people working round the clock.

EDIT: We call this place "American Pharmaceuticals" based on the amount of prescription drug abusers that work there. In a way it IS a liquor store. But for me, a job is a job and if it keeps the bills paid I can ignore the junkies.

Anyway, a better answer to your question would probably be this: In my department we are getting unopened boxes of novels directly from the publishing house printer. They are not priced for anyone yet. These are novels that are either damaged, overflow, or a debut author that didn't sell very well. We take those books and distribute them to various discount stores/websites from there. Our job is to basically take hundreds of boxes of the same book from the printer and break them down into more manageable amounts if that makes sense.

Yeah I worked at a liquor warehouse. You are basically pulling orders there.
