That's not so bad, actually. A bit samey and I certainly don't class it as lounge, modern or not, but okay.

I still prefer proper lounge... sorry, I mean elevator music :D

Just listened to Recovering the Satellites during my commute to and from work yesterday and had this one stuck in my head all day. One of my all-time favorites.

Although the entire album is damn close to perfect.

    Urgh.

I was listening to stupid Blutengel last night and now that whole shtick is stuck in my head.

Must find some suitable vamp-industrial-goth to listen to today. Blutengel is supremely meh since they changed.

Just heard the news that Scott Weiland passed away. Hard to be surprised, but it's still always a shock when a recognizable name like that goes.

Saw STP twice, once with Weiland and once with Chester. Weiland was definitely messed up at that show, you could tell. Still, at least I got to see him.

    RIP. Keep on rockin'.

Anyone around here like Riot Grrrl? Like a fourth of my ipod is dedicated to my collection of bitchy, angsty, nineties female-fronted bands(found between the heavy metal and the alt-pop lol). Some of my favorites are L7, Jack Off Jill, Bikini Kill, Lunachicks, and 7 Year Bitch. Just something about Donita Spark's voice and L7 especially, my musical happy-place. Anyone have some recc's? I was unfortunately a little too young to have been a part of this scene, but at least I can say I was around for it :p

I'm mostly in to alternative and experimental myself, in particular ambient, post-rock, idm, post-hardocre, "post-metal" which isn't actually a genre and shoegaze. My favourite bands are Boards of Canada, Tim Hecker, Jetone, Steve Reich, Sonic Youth, Bardo Pond, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Autechre, 65daysofstatic, Radiohead, Philip Jeck, Saxon Shore and Oceansize.

This song is a classic; the type I could easily see Pat Bateman enjoying. But it could've used a bit more cowbell in my opinion.

Time to really start getting into Christmas music. I've been stealing borrowing some of my parents' Christmas albums with plans to burn a mix of my favorites (yes, I still burn CDs). This one might just be the best of all time.

I am his only true love
I am his only real love
He is mine, he is my saint
He brings me roses and incense
    And he closes my mind
    Yes, he closes my mind
    With real love

And lastly (if anyone is still groggy on a Saturday morning after this, I can't be held responsible).

Nu metal: one of the most hated genres among metalheads, but also the one that introduced many of them to metal in the first place.

The genre is often mocked for combining aggressive instrumentation with angsty lyrics, but lighter, non-gory forms of death metal display a similar divide, in my experience.

You know what, I'm not gonna lie. I still fuck with LP's first two albums on a regular basis, plus Reanimation, and their demo tracks. Sure, they've become a meme in recent years but I don't give a fuck. Nothing can take me back to my high school fuckboy days like Linkin Park. Ironically enough, in spite of having "sad" lyrics they make me daydream about a simpler period in my life. I'd love to go back in time, style my hair in spikes, get some Tripp pants and a lip piercing, and fuck shit up on a skateboard with Hybrid Theory bumping on a ratty Sony WalkMan.

    *ahem*

"In the End" was the first metal song I ever deliberately listened to, and Hybrid Theory and Meteora were my first albums. I fell asleep to them so many times in my depressive eighth grade days that they actually relax me at this point.

In Feb, AC/DC will be stopping by my gas stop of a town. To honor this, one of our radio stations decided it would be a good idea to not only play AC/DC an ungodly amount of times, but the also include three songs back to back to back. I don't mind the band but holy hell that is a lot of their music in a short amount of time. I guess this could have been posted in the unhappy tread but seeing as it was music related I thought I would bring my bitching and com planing here. and just to end this rant on a high note...
