What's the best font for submitting your manuscript to an agent or publisher? I heard Courier is the font to use. I have Courier New and Courier10 BT. Or is there a better font?
Times New Roman is not a good choice, unless the publisher specifically lists it in their guidelines. Times New Roman is a rather crowded font, and moreover it is a proportional font, meaning barrower characters occupy less horizontal space than wider ones. Fixed, serif fonts are preferred for manuscripts, because the space around the narrower character makes many typographical errors more visible. Courier or Courier New are the mist frequently requested fonts. Fonts should be 12 pt and printed in black on white paper (or on screen). You should leave at least one inch margin on all sides, and double-space the text. If sending hard copy, print on one side only.
