Last year, I began to dabble into writing stories. I had a lot of frustration due to the fact that I had put far too much expectation on myself. With my hopes so high, I folded under the difficulty I was having. I have returned to the same books that I was working through a year ago, Painless Grammar and Immediate Fiction. I like each of these books and feel they will help me get a decent restart. What is different this time around is that I have smaller expectations. I still hold some high goals I would like to see accomplished, but I am not rushing myself. I am enjoying the ride. Eventually, I will begin sharing some of my work here. Right now, I will lurk and absorb what I can.
Yesterday, I decided to go to my local library in order to escape my family for some quiet time to spend writing. I was able to work on a short story assignment from a book I am working through. I thought things were going pretty good but after nearly two hours, I began to go blank. So, I saved the file and did a couple other things. I then wondered, purely for curiosity's sake, what my word count was. As I tried to reopen the file from my thumb drive only to find that the file was some how corrupted and lost. Frustrating. Now to go and make sure that I have the autosave turned on. I may possibly be able to find it, but I'm not counting on it.
