Potential Story / Roleplay?

  1. Welcome to the Maelstrom; a place where unwilling fighters are thrown into battle.
It doesn't matter how you ended up here - kidnapping, debt, wrong place wrong time - you're here. And there's no way you're leaving.
The situation isn't ideal, don't get me wrong, but at least you've been locked up in the same room as some other competitors. Chains clamped onto wrists and ankles, blood coating the walls like fresh paint, but at least there's companionship. Potentially.
The guards seem to believe that 'Fresh Meat' only lasts one battle. It's a shame you appear to be under that category. It is explained that to be given your freedom the rank of 'Champion' must be reached. Whether this is solidarity or solitary, the best fighters are revered by the strange lunatics that collect innocents to die.

There are 7 ranks to climb to reach the top:
Fresh Meat, RedFist, DimEyes, Gladiator, Maddened, Predator, Champion.

Winning five battles will advance you to the next stage, no rules, dirty fighting permitted. If you've chosen to go through with a group you will be put against other gangs. Pit Names are necessary to gain popularity with the crowd. If the audience likes you, you may receive better treatment.

    Races
Kobold: Small, lizard-like folk that are surprisingly intelligent. Generally living underground, Kobolds tend to have a larger knowledge of all things rock and dirt. They are very good at sneaking and theft due to their small stature and are generally treated poorly because of this. However, their tinkering skills are widely appreciated as they can create many mechanical marvels. Their scales tend to be either; grey, brown/bronze, black, red, yellow. Kobolds often decorate their small horns with trinkets and rocks that they find to show of to their companions.

Bodach: Humans that are infested with the spirit of an animal that has died. If a human is conceived at the same time an animal loses its life, the creatures soul is sucked in alongside the human soul. This creates a Bodach. The animal can be anything from a frog to a bear. Because of the confused bond upon the Bodach being born the body has one feature of the animal soul, and are generally considered unlucky. However, being a paired soul has its benefits. Many features of the animalistic soul are available to the Bodach, and the intelligence and sentience are given to the creature. Both have seperate names, the Bodach generally taking the one given at birth, and are able to communicate to each other in the mind.

Human: A varied race that has a huge diversity. Though not as big as they once were, many of the civilisations are still run by Humans. With skills in strategy and quick learning, Humans are wonderfully adaptable to any situation. They're main capabilities are stamina based, such as their ability to hike far distances, or carry a large amount of items at once. Humans are often considered to be great leaders and are able to command and encourage troops in ways that other races may struggle with. They are certainly pack driven creatures that require consistent socialisation.

Sidhe: The last surviving Clan of Elves. With fair skin and hair, pointed ears, and sharp fangs, the Sidhe are not to be taken lightly. Skilful warriors and fearsome predators, the Sidhe are the most ferocious of the Elves. Most Sidhe believe that fearsomeness is the only way to prove yourself, and your deeds are what define you. Because of this, they believed the other Elf Clans to be weak and massacred them all. Sidhe have lighter coloured tones, vary from wiry to muscled, and generally wear some ornament from their first kill (eg, feathers, bones, vial of blood.) Their eyes are slitted, and colour can vary from deep, earthen colours to vibrant reds and purples.

Capra: Humans with the lower legs of any creature with hooves and long, goat ears. The Capra are a peaceful race, collecting knowledge and telling stories. They believe that knowledge is power, and that stories are important lessons from the past. Many play an instrument or sing as a way of sharing their tales and will always be willing to learn something new. Their intellect is far superior than other races, though their fighting capabilities are often lacking as it is not commonly taught in their society. Capra are diverse in appearance, all shades of human skin tone, and natural fur that suits the animal. Some have been known to dye their fur, though it is considered odd.

If this was a game, and I read the description I would buy.

Well damn, I appreciate that! I'll probably write a one off story for this. Eventually.

If you want to run a role play, just start it up in the Role Play section. You seem like a capable writer, and I'd join if you made one. It's a bit of a dead section right now, so some life would be welcome.

Aw shucks! I've always enjoyed RP, I'll hang around it and see what happens. I'm not sure I'd be up to making and keeping a RP myself just now, but I'll keep you in mind if I ever manage to get the motivation!

Well, whenever you feel like it if you do. I prefer one-on-one RPs, but group ones are great as well. Collaboration writing can be a good time if the writers sink well.

I totally agree. Most of my experiences are from a website I used when I was younger, and I eventually outgrew the literacy level that most participants held. Despite their good ideas and plots I just needed to write longer paragraphs and go deeper into character development, so I think this website will be a good fit.

That's why I can't join the other sites. I hate the random ambiguous posts, the overbearing action with no depth, or the pure dialogue lines that lack the color of real writing. I had a good partner on here once, made huge posts on our story and really advanced the story well. Good times.

Damn I feel that on a personal level. A lot of RP's tend to be just for the sake of writing (which is totally fine, just not my thing)
I want to delve into characters struggles. I want to break my characters and fix them again. Create relationships with other people characters, and potentially break them too. Show them in calm and life threatening situations and see how they adapt.
It sucks when you loose a good partner. I've always hated that, and it's the sole reason I stuck to grouping. If one left there would be more. But I'm starting to think that perhaps one on one could create some awesome stuff.

I think one-on-one requires it really. The story gets bland if the two writers start lacking. I don't know, but I always find it kind of exciting wondering how the next post will change up or advance the story, or sometimes drop into something completely different.

My last good partner dropped off the planet really. I was a bit depressed by it actually. We had created a rather politically charged fantasy realm together and I kind of miss her honestly, even though I never really got to know her. Oh well I guess, such is the life of online RPers.
