Mossarium [Day One]

  1. I’ve been watching a lot of these things being created on YT recently - it’s just about one of the most soothing things ever. It turns out creating one yourself isn’t quite as soothing. I’m pretty happy with the results, however. I now just have to hope the moss like its new home and takes.

Did you go hunting for the moss?

Sort of. Luckily my line of work means I come across it all the time. I was hoping to find more variety, but I’d probably need woodland for that. The stuff I found was from rocks and the tops of drystone walls. Don’t know what species it is. I’m hoping @EFMingo will come along and ID it for me. I think it’s a sphagnum, but there’s 380 varieties of sphagnum apparently.

    いいね!

You're making me want to get a bonsai tree. I've never actually had a living thing that I need to take care of; I think it'd be good for me.

Is this the first time you've ever done anything like this?

@Foxxx - thank you. You really should do something. A mossarium is inexpensive and relatively low maintenance.

I made a jarrarium about 18 months ago, which is similar to this, but a jarrarium is basically a pond in a jar and thrives (hopefully) with pond life. If you go back a few entries you’ll find images etc.
