One of them is a filmmaker and one a therapist, so this stuff is right up my alley. They don't concentrate on symbolism much, so it's quite different from my own analyses, but they do cover much the same territory in different ways.
There are 2 parts to their Iron Man analysis, and you should be able to find them plus Captain America easily enough in the sidebar. Looks like they have a lot of good MCU stuff, including Loki. Looking forward to binging on it.
Maybe this will knock me off my ass and get me working on my own Iron Man analysis again.
** I'm now watching their Twilight breakdown. I mean, yeah, totally unhealthy relationship, agreed. I don't attempt to defend it in that regard. But I think the therapist dude misses the point that it's a masochistic love fantasy seen through the eyes of the masochist, like 9 1/2 Weeks and 50 Shades of Gray. This stuff is for women what Stallone and Schwarzenegger flicks are for guys.
And dude—of course Robert Pattinson courts women the way Batman terrifies villains! Batman is more or less based on a vampire! I mean, that's a revelation to you? Women who fantasize about bad boys sweeping them off their feet don't want wimpy dweebs always considering their feelings. I think this guy knows nothing about the primal person that lives inside, or maybe he fears it. For somebody whose title is the rapist with slightly different spacing, he should understand this better. I imagine I'll be deleting all this tomorrow after I sober up.
Damn, they have a video on Frodo and Radical Acceptance. Radical Acceptance is one of the major components of Stoicism. The video also covered courage (or was that the one on Samwise?)—the other major component.
