The Quest to Be an Original Writer With New, Innovative Ideas?

  1. In short, I never want to be one of those who not only discourages an exploration into novelty, but decides to mock and ridicule a person for it.

However, there is sense in caution. Possibility vs probability...

Is it possible to create a new idea that no one has heard of? Yes. Is it probable? Probably not.

For some the quest to be an original writer with new, innovative ideas can be all-consuming and ends up draining your will to write anything because it's too close to being called something that already exists. I'd say don't let your quest for writing for something original be so great as to prevent you from writing anything at all.

However...I do have one small bit of advice to give such people. If you go out looking for inspiration for innovation you may never find it. You will likely find more imitation and alteration of what you see. Real innovation is likely going to come from within. Down past the part your brain and heart is afraid to go; the border between our surface and deeper level selves that we've corded off because we fear how it will be interpreted by the public.

Again...there may be great sense to this...

This is why most of us tend to conform and act within the bandwidth of social acceptability. BUT...if you're not afraid to go down deep into that part of yourself that is ever and increasingly YOU...you might not find utterly new ideas, but you'll find perspective, style, aura...that is so much more unadulteratedly, uniquely you than anything else it could be listed on the Periodic Table.

That might be pouring it on a little past a drizzle, BUUUUT you get what I mean... Innovators probably look inwards. Imitators probably look outwards.

I've always fancied myself a seeker of wisdom and then gained the wisdom to recognize myself not as a seeker but a fan.

However...I still try here and there.
