The Clubbed Thumb

I have a clubbed thumb

Yesterday as I was web-surfing and reading an article concerning the hottie from the Transformers movies, I read a comment that she has a clubbed thumb.

I thought to myself, “Wha?”

I looked for some pics of her and, sure enough, I found one of her and her thumb on display. I thought to myself, “Lookit! Her thumb looks like my little thumb!!”

I did some further searching and found that, yes in deed, I have a clubbed thumb. I never knew there was a name for my little thumb. It has always just been my little thumb. Mine is not so clubbed as a clubbed thumb can be, but clubbed it is. I have just the one on my left hand. Some people have both thumbs clubbed. It appears to be a genetic trait. And I found all kinds of web sites devoted to those who have clubbed thumbs, and I found a theatre troup that goes by the name, and I found legend and lore and urban mythology abounds concerning my little thumb. From the idea that the club thumb is a sign of royal lineage to the fact that in palmistry the clubbed thumb is called the murderer’s thumb!
