Hi, my name is Skip Knox.
I was trained as a medieval and early modern historian and have been adjunct faculty at Boise State University since 1986 (the MA is medieval; the PhD is early modern). My day job, though, was always in computers. I was the university's first PC support tech and later was its first webmaster. At the end of my career I was a web programmer (php, .NET).
I was one of the pioneers in web-based teaching; a couple of the classes were, afaik, the very first for college credit over the http protocol. From the start, I made my course material open to the public and it still is. Anyone interested in material on medieval Europe is very welcome to read any and all. I have a link page for all classes

The sites are all organized for my students, so you'll need to drill down a bit to find the actual essays. In addition to these I have a couple of works in progress.

Besides history and writing, I took a shine to electronic music in the late 1990s. I play keyboard and guitar and have spent untold hours in Fruity Loops, Sonar (Cakewalk) and various plugins and other programs. It's huge fun.
I've been married since 1969, have three grown children and two grandchildren and am very much looking forward to not having a job.
