I'm a Software Engineer, but I have an Associates degree in EE (college went bankrupt before I could finish my Bachelor degree).
I am 4 weeks old and I haven’t been born yet, but give me 7 more months and you will see me. Premature born, but you will see me nonetheless. My ideal job will be to spank every living soul on this planet. Now, I know it’s going to take a while since there are almost 7 billion of you, but I have a plan. Stay tuned.
I'm 24. My ideal job would be a space engineer working on missions to colonize mars. I took it in my first year at university, but I just couldn't keep up with the workload. Oh well, at least I'm living in the century that will soon have men touching down on the red planet.
What he said... Failing that... 25 (I think), ideal job is a opiate addict... Unfortunately I struggle with tooth retention as it is (being from the country and all), so I'll have to wait till I'm older to chase the dragon... I mean chase the dream.
22 years old. Dream job, being a famed, number-one-in-his-field Human Resource professional, owning some sort of a training organization to forever take the less fortunate people in this country off the streets and give them jobs to feed their family. Actual job, Human Resources Development staff. Living and fighting for the dream I've had since as long as I can remember. =)
Nothing's changed over the years. I still want to be king and say it with feeling. Just the way Gene Wilder did in Mel Brook's History of the World. "Oh it's so nice to be the king." Don't tell my wife
59.......But I haven't farted dust......yet. Been an Optician/Business Owner, Chemist, High School Science Teacher, Radiation Safety Officer, Environmental Analyst and a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Left out jobs I did going to school. Pick a topic......I'm Irish.......I'll argue with you. But if you come to my house looking for a Donnybrook, kinda old and tired. Afraid I'll just have to come up cuttin.
I'm 40 and I'm kind of in my perfect jobs right now. I work in IT as a programmer which is something I love. The problem solving still fascinates me and the purity and clarity of programming languages are equally as interesting. I also teach a subject that I love on a very part time basis and write on a part time basis. It's all pretty good in my world right now.
22 and an English/philosophy/psychology student. recently a religious studies student as well. I dabble in physics and astronomy now and then. self published author, but someday I'll be more than that.
Ah, yes I've already found me nemesis. I would love to be a songwriter. Thirty sever years. I'm thrilled to see so many young people here. I kind of put writing on the back burner for about twenty years. I started a fantasy novel when I was about sixteen but never finished it. I still have it in my head. Lance of Hindore. It was about a young boy who lived in a Isolated village away from the rest of the world. He left his home tom find out how evil and corrupt the rest of the world is. He wanders off too far and becomes lost. He finds sanctuary with a hermit that was a general that was exiled from his kingdom. It turns out Lance was handy with a sword. Eventually Lance finds out that the kingdom that exiled this general intends to extend it grasp to Hindore and force it's gods and commerce on Hindore. The goal is to impose cruel taxes on Hindore which has always remained independent from the world. This would destroy peaceful Hindore's way of life. Lance's only option is to rally the oppressed people of the general kingdom and the peaceful able body men of Hindore who are unfamiliar with the concept of war. The Hindorians do not want war but it is being brought to them. Lance's role is to prepare his people for war and to play a key part in rally to general's people to rebelling against the empire that has conquered them. Basically it's a fantasy where an unlikely hero comes out on top despite boundless odds. I really should finish if nothing else for sentimental value.
26 and my dream job would be police officer. No, not just police officer, but commander. Currently working on my fitness and finishing off a psych degree so I have a better chance of getting in. I like donuts so I'm halfway there.
This is an interesting thread, and it feels pretty relevant to my situation because I'm unemployed and trying to figure out what to do. I'm 22 years old, unemployed and I have no idea what I want to do! I think I'd like to work in IT - maybe a Software Technician, or a Network Administrator. I've been trying to get experience in Admin work, but I get turned down at the interviews due to lack of experience (these are entry level jobs, nothing fancy. Just office administration. The climate sucks right now). Right now I'd really like to go travelling around the United States, spending my time writing and getting inspiration.
I'll turn 30 this year, at the end of July. I have a Bachelors Degree in English and work as a Grant Coordinator for a local nonprofit. Now that I'm settled into this field, the potential pay rates have really surprised me. I have an interview (tomorrow!) with a different nonprofit to do, essentially, the exact same job; the pay range for that position is $54,000 to $83,000/year (median household income in my area is $48k/year, $50k/year for the State of Texas). I offer those specifics to show my jaded compatriots that an English Degree does not sentence one to a life of poverty. In fact, my BA in English seems to have a higher average pay range than my wife's Master's Degree (library science).
I am 19 and my dream job would be a science officer on a space ship, the Doctor or the Lone wanderer . Barring that, I would settle for something with maths or physics or writing (as in story-writing) involved but I don't like teaching others that much so I am pretty much undecided about what to do once I finish uni.
I'm 22 and right now I am in the first year of my bachelor degree Dutch and English literature and Linguistics. My ideal profession would be a writer of fantasy novels though literature teacher seems fun as well (though in my country there are very few positions as literature teacher).
26. I used to dream of being a scientist at MIT, and now that I am, I dream of writing fiction full time. Blackstar, if you're serious about ChemE, I can put you in touch with some classmates. They'll tell you all about what it's like in undergrad, MS, PhD, and beyond.
