Today I'm happy because the alignment on my vehicle is still good, as the car drives as straight as a dime on the road.
Today I'm happy because I finally got my car serviced. It cost $700, but it was well worth it. There were a lot of issues with the car, and some of them were getting serious. Runs like a dream now, though! And I'm confident I can drive it further than the grocery story without it dying or catching fire - always a good thing. I'm also happy for my roommate. He has almost no family, and what little he has, he's totally lost touch with. All the time I've known him (twenty years now), he's been alone in the world. Well, yesterday he got a letter out of the blue from his long-lost niece who wants to reconnect with him. He hasn't seen her since she was nine - over twenty-six years ago! Now they're emailing each other like crazy, just catching up, and he's kind of an emotional wreck on Cloud 9, if that makes any sense. Dunno what I'm going to do with him for the next while.
I've been on a bloody great bike ride around Waiheke Island in 30 degree heat. Feel good but my arms and shoulders are already turning red- seems the sun block did sweet FA.
Maybe the weather is finally listening! We've got at least ten centimetres off snow, and it's still snowing!
We've also had a snowy winter this year. Last Friday was a bit much though. Sidewalks were very much unplowed, so "biking" was a total bitch. About 1 km from work, I felt like I had just taken the bike out for a walk (push, more like). I might as well have been pushing a fridge or an armchair or something just as useless for transport purposes. But this week was ok. Really icy and slippery so I felt like an accident waiting to happen every morning and afternoon, but I made it, yay!
"Snowy winter" is a bit of an exaggeration, we've only had like maybe 5 days (2+2+1) worth of snow so far. Though this time it looks pretty promising; I hope the fluff stays for a week at the very least.
bought myself a PS3 as a birthday present to myself from myself and HOOOOOLY fook, its awesome (i bought FFXIII FFXIII-2 and Gran Turismo 5 to start myself off!)
Now I'm happy because I watched several reruns of the sitcom Roseanne this afternoon. Man, Becky and Darleen were often rude teens!
Sure, this should be in the sports thread, but this makes me happy. Very happy. I've been waiting for this day for MONTHS. The McLaren MP4-30 has finally been launched and it looks... fantastic. Sure, most of us McLaren fans were hoping for a livery of Honda era red and white, or heritage orange, but just look at this mean mother-fucker!
For whatever the reason, my cat has decided that running her paws across my ribcage is now one of her favorite things to do. Downside, it tickles...but it is a sure fire way to make me laugh.
I can only stand back and admire anyone who posts about cycling to work in snow and ice in the Happiness Thread.
I would happily write about that too, if only I didn't live so long from school and if only we actually had any snow and ice at all over here... Edit: Wait a minute..., what I just said doesn't really belong in this thread, does it?
Tonight my boyfriend and I finished off Left 4 Dead 2. We decided to switch our melee weapon to frying pan. Can't begin to describe the satisfaction I felt every time I got a zombie with the PWANG sound.
Just friended a bunch of my relatives on FaceBook. Haven't seen them in decades. I have to admit much as I hate FB, that was fun.
Another beautiful, sunny, 70 degree day here on the west coast. How are you north easterners doing, choking on your snow?
Look, I love snow as much as the next guy. I also love sun as much as the next guy. After a couple weeks (max) of snow most people myself included get tired of it. However, it doesn't matter how many sunny warm days you get. It's always great.
