Like when it's wet and heavy, and it just keeps on coming and coming. It's been snowing heavily for about two days now. Don't get me wrong, I love having four seasons. But enough is enough. Sunshine would be great if there wasn't, you know, sunshine. And heat. It seems I need to find a place where the climate is mild and fairly dry, and a job that I can work at night, so I can sleep through the day.
I think it's pretty when looking through the window, but I get sun-burned easily (one of those people who basically never tan, only turn red or remain delightfully sallow, like porridge), which means I need to be constantly adding sun screen, and 'cause I'm lazy and forgetful, I end up scorching my skin sooner and later. And this is in a country where the sun doesn't shine at full force, like, ever. I also get cold easily, so, I don't know, I guess I should be living in a sauna or something. No direct sunlight but lots of heat. But since this is the happiness thread, I should add I also like looking at snow! Sure is purdy.
For someone spending the summers in a house with skylights (and no real ventilation) the good days of the summer are the days without sun. Also, I'm not the greatest fan of 30+°C outside temperatures.
I also love having four seasons, though it seems that Sweden is getting closer and closer to loosing two for every year that passes. Apart from these last few (awesomely snowy) days we've pretty much only had summer and autumn the past 12 months. (Pretty much rain at least 8 of those months.)
The seasons here are really messed up too. My friend's snowdrops bloomed before Christmas, and her raspberry plants were still bearing fruit in late December. Her daffodils were in full bloom at New Year. Today was a weird one... swathes of freezing fog that made the grass crispy and yet it was warm enough to nip to the shop in a t-shirt. Seasons? What seasons? Every day is a law unto itself, or so it seems.
I know it's just poetry, (and bad poetry at that), but I finished two major pieces over the course of the last few weeks. Jack and Aster: A Tale of Autumntide and just tonight, Fleetfoot: Lore of the Aerial Dancer. Fleetfoot was two years in the making, a seemingly impossible undertaking, but I did it...
After what felt like half a year, my favorite forum, the Zelda Universe.net forum, is finally returning after a horrific crash and difficult reboot. According to the main site, it's due to come back sometimes this week and I'm beyond thrilled about it. Finally I can return to discuss Zelda stuff with my fellow Legend of Zelda nerds.
I'm happy that the tons of snow we've received lately here in southern Maine has been the light, fluffy snow, not the heavy, wet snow that causes power outages and is hard to shovel.
Ah... Finally! I'm currently sitting at my desk, surrounded by boxes and bags, in my first and very own flat!
I'm still wondering how on Earth we managed to fit in a bed, a desk, a bookshelf and a drawer in a 4 m² room...
Congratulations! Pictures to Tavern's Member Picture Gallery? Also congrats! That's awesome. No parents breathing on your neck anymore! Plus, you can leave it as messy as you want, and they'll just have to suck it up.
Sorry, but I'm pretty happy that it's the folks in New England who are shoveling foot after foot of snow and not we Michiganders.
Happy to see some good stuff coming into the workshop lately. To whoever has been posting them, nice work! I wish I could critique them but mind fried for a while.
Yesterday my friend read the first 30 pages of my story/book and she laughed at the right times! She reassured me that it was good and interesting, saying, "I didn't want it to end, you should definitely finish it!" A bit of reassurance goes a long way.
