TMW your child looks at a picture of a stranger and you have to explain that it's you ten years ago.

TMW you realize you shouldn't be surprised because you kinda' already know this about fandoms.

I once managed an LGBT orriented Bolin fanpage in the Korra community. This was before Korra showed her true colors and we were all sure that if anyone was going to come out of the closet, it would be flamboyant Bolin. ;)

Anyway.... I remember a conversation once where the fanboys and fangirls were bemoaning, yet again, the travesty, the sin, the crime against humanity that was Shamalamadingdong's film version of the original story of Aang & Crew. An entire insane flamewar erupted over the fact that Shamalamadingdong had not found ethnically correct actors to play Sokka and Katara who ALSO had natural bright blue eyes, just like in the show, and is if that weren't enough, that the actor who played Prince Zuko also did not have natural golden/amber colored eyes, like in the cartoon. Because... you know... young actors of Asian descent with amber eyes are just dime-a-dozen and obviously someone did a shitty job of casting.

The film was crap, absolutely, but that Zuko wasn't actually Asian with REAL amber eyes? I don't... I mean... There aren't... Like... No. Just no.

    Thank you very much.

Officially I swear I am going down with the ship ....... but my resumes have already bailed.
:write: <--- Me writing more resumes.

TMW you realize those amazing special effects from your favorite movie are actually kind of lame.

Been there a time or two, myself. Occasionally, I just barely make it off the ship with my life in tact, and end up floating in the ocean on spare parts while I await the passage of a larger bigger boat and the opportunity to jump on. Best to test the waters ahead of time.

Hope you find what you're after.

    TMW...

You feel the creeping horror that you've bought an overly-expensive dust collector rather than a useful X-Box One.

That moment when you clear out the top of the XB1 (had the Gamefly packaging on top of the surface) and suddenly the XB1 can re-connect to your profile and you're back to playing State of Decay

What the crap!? Can any of you techno-people explain this to me?

TMW you can't write because you don't know which path out of hundreds, you should choose for the direction for your story.

TMW you wake up and your unwritten novel is in your head, doing its thing, showing you dialog and exposition that ties up loose ends or things that need to be explainable, even if they are never expanded upon in said novel.

    TMW you realise you better
    1. buy a notebook and keep it next to the bed, along with a pencil.
    2. learn a way of taking notes so as to capture the intent of thoughts, the precis of concepts, because by the time you start typing things on the computer. the ideas are exploding with numerous enhancements that all need to be captured, and that other idea or dialog snippet is slowly fading awaaaaaayyyyyy nooooooooo....

When the editor in you gets the best of the creative in you.

I find it helps me to notate vague words that will light that flame once again when I'm able to take another look, rather than writing down a lot of details that my editor-self will dismiss as a mindless rant or rave.

TMW you realize at least one very successful novelist still writes all of his novels long-hand, so you're not alone :)

TMW you wake up the next morning and the notes you've made in your notebook are unreadable. :meh: Seriously.

That is exactly the thought I was having in bed as these 2 people conducted this perfect interview in my head, expounding on the various bits and pieces I should have been recording at the time. Just get key concept words down and that should be enough to trigger the idea later. Hopefully.

I only wrote a bunch of stuff coz it was time to get up and I am not notebook enabled - yet, but that will change today.

Never give in! Although even for writers pictures can save a 1000 words.

TMW you know that Aaron DC is a slow typer. :bigwink:

Typing a story is far easier as you can change things faster and more efficiently allowing you to progress with you story more.

Deceptive response from me, no question.

Having typed since I was 16 or so and programming professionally for 20+ years, I can assure you my typing speed is fine.

My lack of strength, on the other hand.... :bigwink:
