There are different ethnicities but I've purposefully avoided too much emphasis on race. There are distinct class divides and I don't want ethnic stereotypes to be involved.

The language spoken is English so Anglo names are most prevalent. I think there are limits to how unfamiliar one should make one's character's names. As a reader I don't like names that are confusing to pronounce or hard to keep straight.

You went to school with a girl named Ines, who wasn't constantly called "Penis Ines"?

I knew a girl at school called Kyra (pronounced K-eer-a). She was a bit of a bitch.
Also Robyn. She was a total bitch.
Replacing Is with Ys seems to give names a kind of look-at-me-I'm-so-unique effect without being too OTT.

Unless it was spelled "Ee-ness". It's somewhat common name in this part of the world.

Jessica is, for some reason, the first one that comes to my mind.

    Kayla?
    Molly?
    Raychel?
    Veronica?
    Patricia?
    Henrietta von Klein?

And why am I imagining them stereotypically laughing and judging the new student's looks while Henrietta von Klein rubs her hand up and down a jock football player's chest? o__O

    Cheryl Nelson Churchill!!

We've got to come up with stuck-up, egotistical names. Something that makes her feel like she's the center of attention, the Lordess of all that falls upon her gaze and which may be considered unworthy!!

If a high school girl was honestly given that name, she'd be the laughing stock of all the mean girls in school. Why? 'Cause it's a boy name!

Drew is a name for a boy or a girl.

I suppose this all depends on what people you've known growing up. I've known a Molly and a Kira, both mentioned above, who were very sweet. Same with Heather and Tiffany, which seem to be common bitch names. Knew a Caprice who was a bit bitchy, and a Kim, and a Wendy.

    Really? I didn't know that.

Though to be perfectly honest, names are not indicative of personalities. Someone named Henrietta von Klein might be the nicest girl in your story, while someone named Heather Snow might be downright vicious.

Though looking at it now, I wonder if I was trying just a wee bit too hard with ‘Henrietta von Klein’. :p

Yeah it's a unisex name. I mostly mentioned it because of the character Drew from Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus. But it does sound like a bitchy name in my opinion.

I like Celeste. It just sounds like an over privileged girl.
Also, Brianna , Becka, and Lavinia,

Were you bullied at school? If yes, just take your bullies' initials and give the characters a similar name. That's what I do. I'm not from an English speaking country, so I'm only familiar with mean girl names I've seen on TV, books, and movies.

Names that sound like something bullies would be named:
    Brittany
    Britney
    Alison
    Madison
    Tiffany
    Opal
    Amethyst
    Libby
    Stella
    Starla
    Elizabeth
    Victoria
    Priscilla
    Crystal

    Surnames:
Loveless. It kinda fits the personality.

Heather is like Ashley’s little friend who she totally uses but Heather just does what she says. Very classic mean girl needs two friends to form the perfect mean girl walk in triangle formation with a leader in the front. These are mean girl 101 basics XD
