    "What's wrong?"
    "I hate my life man."
"Uh, okay, why? And don't give me some angsty bullshit."
"Cause it's pointless. Even if we get rich, even if we do something great, then the Earth ain't gonna remember our names. Think about it, the only people that really remember us are going to die. Our kids, our grandkids, us. Nobody else will remember how we sound when we laugh, or how many frigging rum and cokes we can down before we throw up. What's the point in living if no one remembers that we even did?"
    "You're forgetting history books."
"So? Who fucking reads history anymore? They still won't remember us, we'll just be a name on a page."
Silence. Two friends watched the clouds.
    "You know what I think?"
    "What?"
One stood, and pulled Two to his feet. "Fuck the books, fuck everyone else. Let's go out there and give the world something it's sorry it can't remember. And when we die we can flip Death the fuck off, cause we ain't leaving this Earth without any regrets."
    More quiet.
    "I can do that."

This has been rattling around in my head for awhile, based on a personal truth I hold deep to my heart. Figured this would be a decent place to put it. Gratsa.

I don't use my avatar pics as an interpretation of one of my female lead characters. (to think trying represent a pretty blue alien with white hair that kicks ass and tortures people who call her a bitch). Sorry to burst that bubble, but I use things that are more of a reflection of my inner mind hard at work. (I have a crazy personality, so why would I not share that with the rest of the community) :superlaugh:

In the wake of my grandfather's disaster of a funeral, I started a Pinterest board for my funeral wishes. I was pleased with my usual dark and twisted sense of humor as I pinned the various ideas which would make my funeral the event of the year, many years in the future, of course. But now that I've found a lump in my breast, I no longer find it so cute.

Whether it was Gibson himself or his publisher, somebody really screwed up on the title of "Idoru". You can't romanize the katakana of the final character but leave the initial one "correct" in English.

You aren't truly best friends with a guy unless people think the both of you are secretly gay.

    For each other.

I walked the road between the river and the rice paddies this morning, to see if any turtles had sacrificed themselves to ensure the harvest yet.

There was a dead fox instead.

I'm going to need to consult the shaman on this one.

A guy cut me off today, so I yelled out "You're unable to pleasure your wife... OR HUSBAND.!"

Cause he needs to know I'm angry, yet progressive.

I got good news from amazon this afternoon, all 4 articles I ordered are suppose to show up on Saturday. Hooray going to have Maple 2B sticks to play with. Can't really use the acrylic ones my sis got me for Christmas, cause they are just too neat and a tad bit flexible. :p

I don't understand any of that after "Saturday", but congratulations anyway :)

Whatever happened to Jack & Diane?
Did he ever become a football star?
Can she still fit into her Bobby Brooks?

@Iain Aschendale I play the drums and having a good solid pair of sticks is a good thing. Aluminum ones are just too light, and at $30 a pair not really the best choice. So I went back to wood after having one of many long talks with a guy that owned a little drum drum shop a 1/2 mile from where I used to live in Washington state. (I miss those chats :( )

@doggiedude Well as for my evolving avatar picture, that is a no can do. Change is a good thing. :) It keeps me from getting bored with things. And when little else changing, I like to change the little things every so often to not feel stuck in a solidarity of monotony. (Which is huge, because I don't like change all the much.) :p

My random thought is that there's no such thing as a random thought. That thought was not actually random but was prompted by the title of this thread. Which possibly proves my point :p

@Cave Troll - I've been called a lot of things (Sheldon being one of the most common!) but never Spock. I take it as a compliment ;)

    Oh, drumsticks.

    Maple as in wood.

My mind was trying to make it a cooking thing, and I was just lost.

I used to play the iPod, but now I just use my phone.

And I have a bowed psaltry, but that doesn't get out much lately.

On reflection, 'Spock' wasn't quite right there - the smiley at the end was used to express an emotion which would be most unbecoming for a Vulcan :nosleep:

Well, the only truly 100% random (being utterly un-caused and unpredictable) is the wobbling of quantum particles. So it's kind of a moot point. When humans say "random" we usually mean "chaotic" in that it seems rather unpredictable because it's well, chaotic.

Not that I want to give too much away, but this is precisely the basis of the sci-fi novel I am writing :)

"Using precise testing, over five weeks, we have determined that throwing dice is not 100% random but in fact just slightly predictable if you really know what you're doing. So, technically, it's not random." Gonna win all the awards.

Is that an actual quote from somewhere? Because it's actually going to be used in an example in my novel of the way things which seem to be random actually aren't...
