So my last book was not a great succes (bad choice of genre and plot design) So i decided to shrugg that off and start anew. My new book is about a world where dinosaurs and humans both life. 2 babys suddenly appear (they will become the story heroes) And Adam the village leader takes them in The humans are also able to use magic since the goddes granted special atoms in the air they can use. And the story starts out with Adam trying to find out where the babys came from What do you think? Tips or advices
I think you already have a story structure to take example from in the old Roman myth of Romulus and Remus; two brothers raised by wolves...eventually found the city of Rome. Add your magical fantasy elements and change the underlying morallity tale to something more positive than killing your brother. The tale has been drawn on for years. If you do it well, I think the world can handle one more.
Just as a matter of interest for someone whose making their way through their first book, why was your first one not much of a success?
according to his posts yesterday he was only 22k in - he doesnt mean 'not a success' in the sense of commercially, hes talking about his thread getting locked and wrey telling him to take it somewhere else.
That aside in terms of advice - I think you need to work on the standard of English if your posts are typical e.g advice not advices ... babies not babys... success not succes... shrug not shrugg.... both live not both life... goddess not goddes and so forth Also what you've described is a setting not a plot
I don't think its ryan ... (hes still plugging the same old plot, and not listening to advice, posting as Iron pony over on another writing forum I frequent. ) I think Sven is just unfortunate that Ryan has already poisoned that particular well as far as WF are concerned
Re: morality-- have one brother be the villain. Opens the door for killing him. Make that the other brother's objective. Make Brother A not want to do it because he loves his brother, but Brother B has become an evil [warlord, serial killer, ruler, or just has a grudge against Brother A and wants to kill him]. Have the book lead up to Brother A preparing to fight Brother B to the Death, but then give Brother A an epiphany and realize how to redeem Brother B, who turns good again and makes up with his victims. Is it moral to kill your father? It is if he happens to be Darth Vader. But instead Luke redeems him. Do something like that and you can reference the rift in the original Romulus/Remus myth without having one of them die.
