And you're 20? Yeah... getting older and totally out of time. Why not join NASA or Top Gun next?

Haha, I meant as in out of my teens, out of schooling and the education system, and with zero 'real' job experience under my belt :p I'm still a wee babby

I wanted to be an archaeologist (I even dressed up as one from Channel 4's Time Team at school) so so so badly until I was about 10 because I always have been the sort to look into things too far. I found out that they weren't in too much demand and most people who train as one never get the job. I still adore history and watching digs on telly!
So then I wanted to be a zoo keeper, and persued that all the way up through secondary school and college, but as my recent application showed, that is also over saturated, 776 people applied for one position and of course I didn't get it :/ The problem is, they usually just shuffle zoo keepers in senior postions from zoo to zoo so these starter positions like I need open up very rarely as progression seems to take about 10 years or so from what zookeepers I've worked with in volunteerships.
Not sure what I'm gonna do now. I just know it's gonna have animals or history!

In a similar boat except I'm still going. From what I understand this is increasingly true for all academic jobs. It'll be fine though, I'm just spending crucial years of my life pursuing this. What could possibly go wrong? I have creative writing as a secondary thing. What a reliable backup that is.

I don't really think there are any non-crucial years in anyone's life...

Career wise I mean. But yeah, I know there's always chances to do things later on, and I don't have to get everything down right now. I mean, I'm not doing what I'm doing right now because I don't know or care about career success.

    Memento Mori, folks.

On-topic: I also wanted to work with animals at one point. Think it was in between watching the Crocodile Hunter and catching bees during the summertime.

I'm told I was an abnormal child who's dream jobs always had something to do with science. At one point it firmly stopped at archaeologist, and I still have that dream to this day, but it seems impossible due to my lack of education. I refuse to give up on it.

Never went to middle or high school and I don't have a GED. I've been trying to understand maths but most of it goes over my head and gives me a headache which only causes frustration and eventual giving up. I'm still pushing it, but I don't know if I'll ever actually get it. If I want to get into archaeology I'd need a collage education. To get into collage I'd need, at least, a GED.

I see here in England you can't not to go to school. You are made to go. It must be different in the states which I find strange.
Maths is badly taught so I agree it can be tedious and very boring. The same with languages.
I think you should just persist until you get the GED. I am not sure what that is either but I am guessing it is some kind of degree instead of going to university right?

A GED, General Equivalency Development or General Equivalency Diploma, is a collection of tests--math, science, social studies, reading, and writing--that proves the one taking them, should they pass, is at the level of high school education.

I agree with languages. I've been studying Dutch and I'm stuck with learning how to properly write negatives in a sentience. Writing Dutch is fun, writing those negatives is a pain.

You don't have to go to school in England, you can be homeschooled instead. If you put your child into the standard education system, and then take them out, then you have to inform them of your plans for your child's education.

I technically still model, on and off, but I haven't had a shoot in weeks. Whenever the money dries, I always go back to it, but the main reason I stopped was because it was so unreliable. I don't fit traditional modelling books, because I'm too small and petite, so my acting agent wouldn't rep me for modelling, and no modelling agent wants a typical-looking-couture-model thats five foot tall on their books. That, plus shady photogs? Gah!

Soldier, sailor, policeman, fireman, pilot, explorer, palaeontologist, archaeologist...

The last two are my hobbies rather than my job (posts are too few and far between for it to really be viable) and I've never figured out how, exactly, one gets paid for exploring. Otherwise I'm making good progress through the list, with only 'policeman' still to go.

Be Axl Rose until I was 12/13, when I wanted to be like Slash.
But I remember when I was a child, I wanted to be Axl Rose.

Me and my best mate were determined we were going to be foresters living in a hut in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. I still have that love and desire to be in the wilds, and he... well he became a nightclub bouncer.

I wanted to be a vet. A model. A writer. Due to loss of confidence, interest, respectively, guess which one I am?

    Writer. Still haven't published shit.

I wanted to be a vet as a kid, but I'm squeamish as heck (you wouldn't believe it from some of the stuff I read, but I can't take real life guts, blood is fine).

I don't remember other ambitions as a kid, but I remember my mother seeming to always have an excuse as to why I'd fail.

Now I'm thinking about being a therapist for children.
