John-John, If you’re gonna name a faction based off of a geographical region or direction, make sure you actually look at the map before you give them the name. Oscaria is EAST of Alkoria, so their ‘Riders’ would call themselves ‘Riders of the EAST’, not ‘Riders of the WEST’. >:c
Still waiting on the oil but there`s other people home today, so wrapped up in blankets to hopefully work my way out of a few holes I`ve dug myself into.
Seriously, how, in all my life, did I not know that Shakespeare's theater was surrounded by pubs and brothels, his audience were basically smelly drunk Londoners and all he wanted to do was make silly jokes, sell pies, and make sure his friends in the nearby brothels got customers? With this in mind, reading Shakespeare is suddenly less boring to me.
Shakespeare is largely crude, rude and dangerous to know... why do you think he was Bard from so many pubs Consider for example Nursey in Romeo and Juliet when Juliet falls and grazes her knee " You fell forward ? Silly little Dame, you will fall on your back when you have more sense"
There are a ton of jokes that we miss due to pronunciation too. Can't find it right now, but there was a documentary a few years ago by a company that researched the original Elizabethan pronunciation of his works and found puns hidden in plain sight that are obscured due to the linguistic shift between Elizabethan English pronunciation and Americans faking a half Cockney/half Australian accent that they think sounds British modern British English. For example, there's one verse where the words "hours" would have been pronounced, and could have also been interpreted as "whores."
Just drowning in some work holes I dug myself and going stir crazy having to wait for the oil people everyday this week. Called them, the owner was out on a run....feel like someone quit...he was gonna call us back. He didn`t.
Working on what needs to be done by Thursday, which is now. Still waiting on that oil but i`ll be waiting on until I die I feel like now.
Interesting Historical Note: The guy who constructed this tower was alive and well to see his tower lean.
I know it's late, but... My mom lives out in the sticks, she and my stepdad bought a second huge oil cylinder thingie and they buy their oil in June or July or something, prices are lower, delivery comes on time because the truck isn't busy, and they don't freeze if winter hits early. If you survive til spring (and I hope you do) you might want to stock up then.
Hoping like hell that the buss will be empty today so I'll fit with two bags. Spending the weekend catsitting by the sea side
I just finished my 3rd assessment for the day. That leaves 6 assessment lefts for the next 2 weeks. Then. I am officially done as a student and by some criteria.. officially a historian. Mind you, i've been working with the university and with museums for the better part of the last 3 years though - so there's that. Anyway. Taking a break at the moment, perusing the WF forums before I get started on my 4th assessment.
I'm being assessed on my subjects. Writing end-of-year assessments and essays mostly. Today I did 2 Research Essays and 1 "Forum post" (circa 1000 word argument or answer about a given question). Starting on a 20m "documentary" I have to do for one of my history classes. I'm being assessed on my knowledge of the topic and the unit as a whole since they are the largest assessments (by contribution to total) of the units. They, if you want, replace the exams (which I don't have). If you're asking what subjects/units they actually are. Then i'm doing: Global Environment Politics of Food, Culture and Environment. History of Warfare, Making History (how to present history to the public - e.g documentary), Sociology - Culture & identity, History of the Environment (of Australia), Sociology of Ethnicity (technically part of the previous sociology unit). I've supposed to only do 4 subject, but i'm overloading to finish this year. So i am doing 5 units (or more technically 5 1/2)
