You'll find that as you work your creative muscles in your brain that you'll start to get more book ideas- just look at the beginning of this thread to now! So just knuckle down and get to writing. It's good to be considering how to publish/what marketing you'll need to be doing (from what I've been picking up from my RL writers group, even as a trad author you'll need to do some), but don't get hung up on for right now. The most important thing is to write.

That's definitely true you also get faster - it took me two years to write my first book to first draft - these days it takes about a month ( I have 6 self published - two novellas and four novels- and another 6 in various stages of the editing process)

I did it, so although unlikely it's definitely possible. You'll need a decent story and a hell of a lot of good luck. Especially if self publishing.

Oh, definitely don't want to self publish. I'll have to do marketing either way, but I'd like the help of a traditional publisher in that regard.

I have one 5 star rev on amazon, but I hardly call that
much of a success as far as my first book is concerned.

    Better than zero, I guess.

I would at least like to earn-out a traditional deal. And more.

You have to get one first

I'm not saying you can't but don't expect it to be easy
