Got a chapters worth off to the ladies in group. :cheerleader:
Suppose I just needed to find some inspiration to
have something to write about, cause the WIP is
kinda blah to work on at the moment. Yay for 2790
    words of a start. :p

BTW, I took the plunge today, now let's see if DSF will buy the rewritten version of 'News Item'.

EDIT: I was either not getting new critique offerings because it was really good, or people were just not bothering to comment on it. either way, it's sink or swim time.

Why do heavy armored units (fiction/games/real life) wear
ski masks? I think this has me miffed considering a ski mask
isn't really going to do much, and it doesn't make them scary
or anything. Is it to keep them from getting a mouthfull of
brass? That would imply that they aren't particularly useful
if they do manage to get their weapons ejection port lined up
with their open mouth, which would take a bit of talent and
ineptitude. Cause most of the time there isn't anything around
like a sand storm or dust/debris just filling the air, so the added
ski mask has no real purpose, except to be an added layer to encumber
the wearer in extreme heat. In the winter it makes since, but other
than that it seems like a ridiculous accessory to have, when it
won't stop a bullet, knife, or well anything except leaving the
eyes of the wearer far more vulnerable to mosquitoes.
IDK, just a random pondering that will probably go nowhere...:p

Trying to not fall asleep during my lunch break. I can't wait for an afternoon week where I can sleep 8 hours again!

Might have to take a nap when I get home...

I am pretending to think that I am going to get my notebook out and write. In actuality I am drinking lemonade and trying to keep the fly away from my drink and also trying to stay cool in 91 degree heat.

    3am: Been up since midnight.

God aweful dream: (not scary or dangerous, just environments or situations that evoke frustration or discomfort of not wanting to be there)
Cornicing - any time I have a dream about cornicing, it's a nightmare job that either in real life one would never take on or is literally impossible to do. Not only that, but I was doing the job with a bloke I used to know of which it took me a while to figure out he had some serious issues thus a hassle to be involved with ( my awareness was undeveloped back in the day). Then the dream morphed into me as a preteen or early teenager in a barren landscape full of long ago abandoned factories, and I and what may have been my eldest brother were exploring as part of a typical day of surviving in a post apocalyptic world.

In many of my dreams I have the ability to fly, hovering above or skimming across water are the most moving experiences I have, and the soul moving usually fills me up in my waking life for days, depending on the context of my flight. I cease ground searching and begin arial recon only to become trapped under the foundations of a huge building that decided to crumble just as I got there...I awoke from that. No negative residue in awakened state, just a dream I'd rather not hang out in any more. The last bit signifies taking a certain direction in life or a situation one is engaged in and becoming entrapped...thus either something that I'm already engaged in or my spider senses are alerting me to keep an eye out for something coming up.

Yesterday installed new 48T crankset, redid heat waxing of chain, also had to install 2nd hand Deore front der as current der can't handle above 40T. Deciding to install one new element at a time, that way I can do lengthy tests runs to see how each new component works and compare it against reviews or claims. 2nd hand front der's pivot shaft is very worn but works (discovered only while using), will buy new one asap. One component at a time rule, but sometimes you can't.

Initial reason for bike work was to cut ag pipe into various widths to see what tyres I'll buy, but as I took tyre off I realised I can simply tie bare tube to rim and inflate at various amounts to produce 40 - 57mm. I did and it was way easier than trying to compress the much harder ag pipe. 47mm is the skinniest I'll go. It may seem like there's not much difference between 44.5\45 and 47mm, but there is. I also don't wanna ride through the village knowing some folks are laughing at me for having too skinny a tyre...social embarrassment and even deep shame due to external validation, keeping up with the Joneses, or thinking one has to be a certain way in order to fit in, to be accepted...~contented sigh~...so glad I sorted that shit out a while ago. There's one tyre @ 50mm, but tread pattern and curve towards sidewall are also visual issues that keep me awake at night or give me disturbing dreams.

I've triple checked...wait, me check again...yep, it's writer's group today, in the new venue, the community hall, that's what it's called, so if I wanna go for a ride with the new gearing, I have to hit the road @ 7, not 7:30, that way I'll be back by 9:30, which gives me enough relaxed time to head back in me ute.

Currently writing on Lappy, haha, still trying to get things done by touching the screen, brain rewiring from tablet to lappy will take some time.
Lappy is as pristine as depicted in the pics. 8 year old puta but practically brand new. Only blemishes - 3 tiny faint marks on case top, one rubber foot isn't original and isn't that secure...and that's it! The rest of Lappy, as I familarise myself and test each element, so far all in tip top condition. The huge, for a lappy, Bang & Ollie speakers\sound system...very nice, played a couple of music vids. Big ass beast, weighs 3 kgs, 400mm x 260mm x 35-40mm, but feels okay on lap, heat is mild, and size aint an issue 'cus I bought it for quality sound, graphics card and full size keyboard.

I'm not a hipster, but I realised I'd prefer an old school lappy, and I recently snagged an old Dell multiple button mouse from an op shop, which works even without proper driver install. I have a black suite I bought for me Dawta and Son in law's wedding a couple of years ago, I also snagged some old school grey pin-striped suits from the op shop, and last year I snagged a new fedora, Tom Baker's Doctor Who inspired, thus imma gonna dress up on writer's group days.

As for Windows 10, can't wait to get rid of it. I can only imagine has much bandwidth is being used by stuff I can't turn off, even though I've gone through the options and switched off as much as I can... eg: I installed Firefox 52, turned off all automated and background stuff...it later froze, so I had to restart and it updated itself, even though update had been turned off...I'm sure that's Windows 10 telling me I don't own my Lappy, it does, and it knows what's best for me.

Microsoft Office and a couple of other progs installed, of which I have no use for, but if it turns out that me and lappies don't need to hang out, for resale it would be good to leave the drive as it is, so I figured out a good way...take out and store the current 500giger, test an install of XP or 7 with the spare drive I found as I await my SSD.

Working on treadlee and installing 2 parts still took half a day, half of that on tweaking and testing settings. Also good practice for the bigger job of installing the shifters and running new cables through the tubing. Back was sore by the end of it so never even got to cutting bar ends off and other fiddly things. Went for a 1km test run when satisfied with tweaking and partially rode up decent hill to see if the lowest gear was acceptable. It was, so riding into village won't have any uphill issues and will be interesting to see what top speed I can muster.

I wish there was some way you could send me that fly. It's been far too many weeks since I've fed me ute spider, as, and I've never had to take notice before, but there's just no insects around in winter here. She won't go near crickets, even small ones, and she don't like tiny caterpillers or even fat juicy tiny slug things. As for moths, which there's an over abundance of, all gone a long time ago. Bees, too big for her. Standard house fly would be her limit. Even the long term stored house bins in the carport have zero flies hangin' around them.

Right now I am waiting for my ride who should show up soon. What if they forgot me?

Or talk to them and tell them they're needed here, and they'll send messages through the aether to the ones here so one will make an appearance. Well, only the ones that have no hangups about physical death.
