Legend of Korra is a top-class show, Vaatu was absolutely terrifying, and the giant Korra vs. giant Unavaatu fight was one of the greatest things ever aired on television. And Season 3 is probably my favourite.
On my walk home today, I saw a familiar face or two. When they spotted me, they ran over to greet me.
It was very lovely, and a great surprise. I never feed them anything, but I always say hello and give them a stroke. I talk to them a bit, and tell them how beautiful they are, ask them if they're having a good day. I figure they must have felt lonely today, so were glad of the company.
This makes me happy. https://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/newsireland/pictured-arctic-tern-chicks-born-on-dalkey-island-for-the-first-time-ever/ar-AAFjIpz?li=BBr5HCU&ocid=mailsignout
I have another happy today. I have made the decision to bin my bin. Not literally of course. I will donate it.
Today was like waking up on Christmas morning. 1) The kitten is the healthiest kitten I've ever received, currently situated in the kitchen until she grows up a bit and she's so damn cute. I was thinking about naming her Niovi or Naomi. What do you think? 2) After about 2 months, the internet is back and 3) at last, I got paid and I've got money in the bank! More money than I ever had. They are gonna vanish soon enough because this and that, but I've calculated that this is gonna be the last difficult month of this year and after that, it's gonna be smooth sailing for me. Damn! I feel good! My efforts seem to have started paying off.
Those are both super cute names! I like Niovi a lot. I'm glad she's doing well! If you don't mind me asking, do you foster cats? (I haven't seen if you've posted about it in this thread before, but that's what the wording sounds like)
I don't usually go around fostering cats or any other stray animal (unless I stumble upon something urgent, to the point that I can't turn a blind eye towards). Yes, we feed some of our backyard wildlings, which we don't even bother to name anymore (they come and go) and we have already fostered one cat that is now a family member, Chica, but Niovi was dumped at my backyard by an unknown (human) intruder. I've cared and fostered many cats throughout the years and two dogs but this is not something that I would have chosen to do right now. Anyhow, I love kittens and now I adore her so, I guess there's no way around it. I'm stuck with her. But as I've posted in the Not Happy thread, dumping a little kitten into someone's backyard is a bullshit thing to do. If you ever find one, either take it home to raise it yourself or call one of the organisations. Don't load your guilty conscience to another person which you know will be burdened, especially without asking them first. I had to borrow money from a friend in order to get her formula and kitten-food and medication. It's been paid off today but still... a bullshit move. And it's not just about the money. Ok, a kitten doesn't cost too much, but right now it's just a baby and babies need interaction with you as well and protection from the rest of the hungry wildlings. We've got pussy-territorial wars happening in my backyard. That's why I've decided to take her in.
Oh my god, someone just DUMPED her there!? Who does that!?!? UGH!! I'm really glad you've been able and willing to look after her. Poor little thing doesn't deserve to get ditched like that. I hope things go well for you both
That said, @Malisky, didn't you say whoever it was probably knew you were in the habit of feeding strays? So while it's still a crappy thing to do, at least they knew the kitten would be safe, rather than someone just ditching her by the side of the road or something.
So a disaster has turned into solutions for me. My flat had a pair of cushions with a dated looking corduroy pillow cover each. I went to take one out of its case and there's a hole in the lining! Technically they were my landlord's but he had forgotten all about them and told me to do what I please with the pieces. I had about half a dozen free tote bags from various conferences and conventions my partner and I have been to. So I took a pair that only had designs on one side and stuffed them with the pillow stuffing. I also made a pair of scented sachets with some fabric in my sewing kit to keep moths out of our drawers. All without spending a penny since I had these goods lying around.
Something @Link the Writer said may have just given me an insight that I desperately needed. Time to get back to writing!
It's not out of habit that we feed these cats, but out of moral sense. Never have I ever ditched an animal on someone else's yard for them to deal with it. Either I took them home and claimed responsibility, or I called an organisation that specialises in protecting animals. The thing is that I wasn't lazy about it and didn't force anybody to claim responsibility supported upon their moral sense. This logic is extremely flawed. Imagine if everyone starts ditching the strays they find at my backyard. The outcome would be neutralising the help that I'm providing, since I wouldn't bother buying more food for them and more cats would have to share the little food that I do provide. That's why I also said that "these wildlings are hungry". At some point, at my old house, we ended up with 26 cats! That's a lot of cats to feed and no, I won't pay for them to be sterilized. The person that ditched this kitten is a bastard, because he didn't knock on my door. He broke into my house to leave the kitten. He didn't ask me if I could provide for the kitten. He just dumped it there. He didn't leave any formula or food or even a box for the kitten. It was filthy as hell. Not even a note! I mean, wtf? If you want to play saviour, then be a saviour by saving the kitten yourself. Take it home and take care of it. Do you know what I believe happened? A stray gave birth at his/her backyard. He/she wanted to ditch the kitten so he/she wouldn't have to bother with it. Because, that's what he/she actually did. He/she ditched it. And probably it must be a neighbor of mine (I think I know who), since about 2 years ago, I found a newborn kitten in their trash. IN THE TRASH! Wrapped inside a plastic bag full of garbage!
