    Hiya

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by mochi-melo, Sep 17, 2019.

I've just joined here yesterday hoping to learn more things in writing. I don't really write novels as I'm more into making comics and manga. Currently I am learning the art fundamentals while working on my story in hopes to finally make my own series. (It's hard to balance two things at once)

I discovered this place while constantly finding a site for advice in stories and it's been pretty great. I've received tons of advice from people that helped me with the project I'm working on.

Also hoping to improve my English as I live in southeast Asia.

I also want to learn how to write scripts in order to get critique for my story. (drawing manga would be very time consuming)

    Hiya, hiya :)

I'm one of the forum moderators, and I am happy to welcome you to the forum

We have a number of members here who are either actively writing comics, or are interested in doing that, so I'm sure you'll find some people who already share your interest. Just feel free to continue to explore the forum. Enter into any thread discussions you find interesting. Take your time to get to know us, and let us get to know you.

Have you got particular kinds of storylines you want to pursue in your comics?

You might want to check out this section of the Workshop, which deals in scripts, screenplays and comic books. https://www.writingforums.org/workshop/scripts-and-screenplays/. You have requirements to meet before you can post your own work here (see New Member Start Guide below) but you might enjoy seeing what others have written.

Anyway, while you're here, can I suggest you check out these two links? They'll help get you started and keep you right, as to how we operate here on the forum

Nice to meet you @jannert! :) Thank you for the links. I'll be checking it out.

I'm currently working on a story about a hero who's role was stolen and wants to get it back from the villain. It's a mix of fantasy and supernatural. Hoping to draw it one of these days. :D

Not sure what you mean by his 'role' was stolen? You mean somebody else is doing the good stuff he was doing before?

Uhh no. Someone made a deal with an otherworldly being to steal his life, fame, glory, friends, family, and girlfriend --- hence his "role" --- because he was jealous of the hero. The result is the hero ends up getting forgotten by everyone in his life as if he was never been born in the first place. Only the villain and the otherworldly being remembers him. Also, the villain is now living his life. My story's premise is "What if everyone suddenly forgets about you as if you never existed in the first place?"

It's really hard for me to tell this part 'coz it's a big revelation but then again, I need advice for it too. Haha. :p

A few questions; are the otherworldly being and villain keeping up the fight, do they have a plan to keep the hero from retaking his position, has the hero lost his abilities?

ETA: you should probably move discussions about your writing to an appropriate area by the way.

ETAA: yeah, i get that's kind of hypocritical of me, seeing as how i'm the one keeping the conversation going here. I'm sorry. I wish i was better.

Maybe in the future when I finish my character profiles. :)

To give you ideas, yes, the hero loses his abilities/powers. However, his experience remains. (will be important in the story) As for the villain, he seems to get worry from time to time because the hero is still around but the otherworldly being ensures that he (the hero) will not get anywhere as she plans to turn him into a monster (some kind of evil overlord) and make the villain kill him to increase his fame. Thing is, the otherworldly being has a different agenda in that she just wants to cause chaos for her own amusement. Which is why keeping the hero alive is important to her.

Hi @Saphry! Nice to meet you too, fellow SEA. :D I'm into those as well although I'm not updated much these days. The last ones I watched were JoJo (memes, memes everywhere) and Overlord (still not finished on season 3). I'm mostly into video games nowadays. My favorites are mostly JRPGs.
