Which of these technologies would be hard to create in Star Wars and won’t show up in a future book?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Maximum7, Oct 1, 2019.

This Wiki page I've been editing for months with stuff I've read on the internet. Based on existing science and tech already available in Star Wars, which of these would be challenging for a scientist in Star Wars to create? Try to explain why and you can pick multiple entries. Remember, Star Wars is more advanced then the movies often show.

The problem here is treating Star Wars as a science-fiction setting. It's not - it's a fantasy setting with knobs and dials.

On the surface it appears that way but science plays heavily in the background. It just isn’t addressed because it’s not crucial to the central tale.

Perhaps, given how the Kessel Run can apparently be done in 12 parsecs, that was wise.

There's a technology Star Wars needs. The plot hole filler.

Working holograms. Can master hyperspace travel, but face time with my online alien "date" keeps flickering at the good bits? Gah.

Personally, I've always wondered how many bowling alleys the Death Star had.

If bowling was a thing back then, probably a couple. The Death Star was not only a military installation, but was effectively a mobile city, with roughly a million assigned personnel that had tours lasting at least 6 months, if not longer, and being a highly secretive installation, leave was rare. As a result, the Death Star was equipped with parks, recreation centres, cantinas, cinemas, and shopping plazas; a good number of which were maintained by civilian contractors. The official sport of the Galactic Empire was called "wegsphere."
