I guess it may not be as obvious as I thought. It's just far too forward to me. I understand a lot of people are on there for the sole purpose of one-night-stands, but even in that respect, just throwing it out there after a couple messages just seems a bit ridiculous, unless it's on sale, but that becomes a legal issue. It must work though, because it's just so common. I don't think I could ever bring myself to do that. Wonder the success rate though.

On second thought, maybe I don't want to know.

I’m probably being really thick, and I’ve searched (probably very poorly: sorry) but I can’t see a debate room anywhere. Is it a restricted area?

Yeah it is. Please note that there are requirements for access and participation: to view the Debate Room you must have been a member for 14 days and made 20 posts. To participate you must have been a member for 90 days and made 100 posts.

"Away across the ocean he did send the cat at last,
Vessel out alone today taking water fast,
People all began to pray the boat began to toss,
A great big gust of wind came by and every soul was lost.

But the cat came back, the very next day,
The cat came back, they thought he was a goner,
But the cat came back, just wouldn't stay away."

Mod hat on here: Moderators are working to keep discussions from veering off into unpleasantness—to keep exchanges welcoming to everybody, not just to encourage people who like a good fight. This isn't Twitter or Facebook. This is a writers' forum. It's not a political debate forum. So perhaps a little LESS snark and open contempt for our efforts (which are constant and unpaid and unperked) wouldn't go amiss? We DO have a Debate Room, and that's where politics belongs.

Oh, I love that song! It was quite popular when I was still in the USA, back in the mid 1980s.

My cats had better come back. They're my four-legged space heaters.

That said, they're right here, where they belong.

    Haha, I wish mine was a space-heater. My poor Yadier hates being held or laying near anyone. Very affectionate and sweet, but like me, big on personal space. ><;

Am I going crazy, or is there a word that basically describes the sound of dining? (In the same way that petrichor is the smell of rain.)

My brain keeps saying "tinsel" but it's not. I swear there's a word for this but I can't think of it.

Lol, I should've been more specific.

Unless I'm having a Mandela-effect moment, I swear there was a word for the clinking and tinking of plates and silverware.

Reminds me of Anne Lamott's comment that whenever she writes something negative about a male character who is loosely based on someone in real life, she always somehow mentions the tiny penis -- that way the person on who the character is based will be hesitant indeed to assert that the character is modeled after him.
