It is indeed essential, but automation has the potential to cause trouble in any career path. If ordering systems start to replace waiters or cooks, then that's a lot of jobs lost. Competition would get very steep for the remaining jobs, even if only 10% or 20% is automated to begin with. Waiters may be better, but systems are cheaper. Remember what happened to bank tellers. Management is probably safe for longer though.
Code: function manageEmployee(name: string) { setTimeout() => { document.write(`So... what's happening, ${name}? Yeahh, I'm going to need you to come in over the weekend...`); manageEmployee(name); }, 1000); }
I am a Field Service Engineer for transmission electron microscopes. My work is on the road quite a bit, hence the field service bit. Work mostly in labs or colleges across the country, sometimes in other countries. Home base in San Diego, where the majority of my calls are out of. Fun, challenging work. Love talking about it with anyone interested. Not a common field.
I work as a PR and Communications Manager. I spend most of my days communicating marketing spiel, or trying to get things (advertising spaces) that I should pay for, for free. As we are so short staffed, I also act as Marketing Manager and resident graphic designer. I've only been working in a 'proper job' for three years, since I graduated, and I am already hoping to make an escape from the 9-5 employed life before I'm 30. Although to be fair, I've learnt a lot by being thrown into the deep end. Here's hoping I can make freelance work one day, but the real dream would be to get some books out. Although getting published and landing a film deal would be THE DREAM, at this point I would just be pleased to complete something and self publish it.
Currently Software and Firmware Developer and in the past Software Developer. I make firmware part of robots, which are replacing union workers making very sophisticated weapons. Thanks to unions, my skills are in demand
The book of @Earp , dr 1 I was a Stockroom worker for a charitable organization at $1 an hour – I still have my first paystub. Then through God’s grace I became a Rifleperson and ground radio repairman in the military. A Bowling alley pinsetter mechanic , part-time while in the service, lead to opportunities as a Collector for a consumer finance company. Worst. Job. Ever. - I'd rather clean septic tanks with a straw, which I did after, I still have my straw. Beekeeper, working for my Uncle Bob. I kept that bee on my shirt; I loved that bee and he told me to become a Clerk and eventually receiving manager at a department store that made K-Mart look like Saks Fifth Avenue. Then the bee said try being an Installer/repairman for three different burglar/fire alarm companies. But he changed his mind.Various temp jobs, including moving furniture for the State of Michigan and working on the assembly line at Amway. I made a career move to be a Busboy at a restaurant in a Holiday Inn (lasted one night - manager was a ring-tailed bitch). I was happier as a Pump jockey at full-serve gas station (lasted one day) I said to the bee. Or so I thought Pizza delivery (lasted one night). Newspaper delivery (did this on and off for twenty years - great part-time job). After my bee passed away I Assembled bicycles at department stores for Huffy (also BBQ grills and RTA furniture). Clerk and eventually manager at a 7-11 store. Had a handyman business while my brother-in-law Baked some bread and made pizza crusts at a pizza/grinder restaurant. They called me the Gourmet coffee roaster, by the way. Today I’am an IT Manager for a smallish company called Earp.
I'm on a sabbatical (could be permanent (Happy Retirement card on leaving indicates so)). I was a software guy/graphics guy ^like a 1.0 vers^ of @Matt E up there. Lots of kudos (I tell myself) in what I achieved but weighed the stress of it all against my contentment and gave notice. Living off investments now till I either cave and become a (soulless worker) drone at nearby Amazon depot or hold out till (some years down the line) my pension matures and says 'come get me old boy'. Reading like a possessed one at the mo, book after book, rarely writing alas as the between time is laden with the deeds Mrs Loki's prescribed; they detail by way of 'to do' many things that need... doing—I'm a DIY man about the house.
Carpet Repair and some installation. Don't do vinyl (sheet or tile) cause it sucks, and I will only do it for like 2-3 people and that's it. Pretty much just a loser, with some odd hobbies, and pretend I can be a writer.
Librarian. its more people focused than book focused (most people think all we do is read all day... I WISH!)
I work in insurance and do property appraisals. I'm on disability for my PTSD right now and found writing again after a five-year hiatus, so now I'm in an existential crisis of whether or not I need money or to pursue my dreams (something in the field I went to school for).
Wanderer, I spend my life wandering this existence and observing others. Never truly caring to partake in the madness that is humanity
I loved law school, and working in the courts (as judicial law clerk). Hated the actual practice, didn't mind editing law books. Still have the license in case that name-making muckraking case wanders by.
I earn minus 5p an hour at a bookshop! Yes, I start the week with a wage, which reduces in front of my eyes.
That it is. So many jobs all in one. But every day is different, my home is my office, and meeting all these famous scientists and helping their work makes it worthwhile. It's a good time.
I'm envious. Are famous scientists nice? I read that joke somewhere the other day... A neurosurgeon and a novelist are chatting at a party. "I think I'll write a novel, one day," the neurosurgeon says. "I think I'll perform neurosurgery one day," the novelist replies.
Good night. And to answer your question, not usually. They are cutthroat. Some of the best scientists are really just good at finding a way to get exactly what they want. A good theory to prove here or there, but most of the time it's about the grants. Very interesting people though.
Well I failed at college, couldn`t get hired anywhere so found work where I could doing photography, sound, videography, labor, and etc while trying to write something that wasn`t crap...never did do that part. Mostly just ended up a starving artist, my mental health got in the way a lot and I did more pro bonu then I should have. It was mostly non profits and small ones at that etc though and....I didn`t have it in me. Rather it be for a good cause then fuck up my karma. Been cleaning hotel rooms for the past six months, I like it for the most part stresses me out but I just have really high anxiety. Don`t see myself there forever especially with this new decade coming up.....feeling something on the horizon. For now though Kinzvlle hotel housekeeper at you`r service. I also have a bar tending license but i`be only ever used that at charity things. So many complaining old lady`s....so many....Ma`am I can only give you the size cup of wine i`ve been told to give.
What the hell is a bartending license? I mean, i can sound the words out, but do you really need a license in PA? (And i think I've prob asked you this before)
