Hey everyone, I'm Vincent, I'm French, and I'm currently writing a science fiction story that I aim to make into a comic book. I have already written the plot, and am currently in the process of going through each scene and writing all the necessary details as well as the dialogue, and adding some characterization. My story is mostly world and plot driven, leaving a lot of room to improve my characters. I have never been published, and I came here hoping to get some advice on specific areas where I encounter difficulties. Please forgive any English mistakes that I make. I'm writing in French, but thought it would be easier to getfeedback from an English speaking community.
Hello, Vincent. I'm one of the forum moderators here, and I want to welcome you to the forum. The reason it has taken me so long to bid you welcome is because I've been trying to work out a pathway to get you to be able to interact with other people here who are interested in writing comics (Graphic Novels.) Unfortunately the path is not clear, but until the software itself gets changed, we're stuck with it. It would be great to have a section on Graphic Novels that appears in the forum list at the top of our Community page, but we don't ...yet. However, our Administrator (Komposten) gave me this pathway. It will allow you to see the three threads already made in this genre (which go back a way, as it's so deeply hidden here) and will also allow you to make a prefix to any thread you start that has Graphic Novels as it's main subject. To find other threads on Graphic Novels, go to: By Writing Form click Thread Display Options (at very bottom of page) under Prefix, click Graphic Novels then choose Set Options This will lead you to the (3) threads already started. If you want to start your own—pertaining to Graphic Novels—in any of the forum sections: Click Start a New Thread. On the title line, click the arrow next to No Prefix Choose Graphic Novels This will give your thread the correct prefix, and it will then be included in the Graphic Novels list on By Writing Form ........ deep breath.... Just to keep you on track or get you on track if you’re just starting out here …please take the time to read these two links. They help to get you oriented, and also give you a notion of how we operate here. New Member Quick Start Forum Rules If you want a quick way to explore the forum offerings, here is a great link below, and I use it often myself. It’s not a series of Frequently Asked Questions, but is, rather, a site map with links. https://www.writingforums.org/faq/ If you have any problems getting settled, don’t hesitate to ‘start a conversation’ with me, and I’ll do my best to help. (Just click on my owl avatar and follow the signs.) Anyway, take your time, settle in, participate in any threads that draw your interest. Giving critiques in the Workshop section is much appreciated by our members, and is also a requirement if you want to post your own work for feedback. So might as well get a head start there. Our contests are also open to new members, both for entry and for voting. So you might want to check these out as well. Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself, and I’ll see you around the threads. Probably AFTER Christmas! Cheers, Jan
