Spaghetti with homemade sauce made up of all the fresh herbs I brought home last night. A salad on the side as well. Nice meal and I can take it into work tomorrow since the employee meal is gone with the kitchen being closed.
Pan-seared chicken in light olive oil with salt/pepper + basil rub Sidekick's delicious chicken and broccoli noodles.
So I just made what I call "Covassons" (it's the gentile name for the city I origiante from in french). Anyway. It's mash with lardon (bacon pieces), gruyère (a type of cheese from switzerland). I also put a little thumb of garlic butter in the inside, wrap it up in the mash, than wrap the mash in minced meat (with onions and a little bit of cheese inside). The entire thing is a fist-sized ball that I then crumb (batter made with mustard, eggs, flour and a dash of absinth. Slather it on and than crumbed). Brown them slightly in a pan (with butter) first than shove 'em in the oven until cooked. Love them. Very tasty and my own speciality. If done right, when you bight into them you should have a juicy garlic butter inside, some steaming mash and some very tasty crumbed meat.
Sounds like a very nice version of what the Japanese call "croquette" or "croquet" (pronounced "korokay")
Gonna have a burger and home fries. My mom gave me a few hand made patties that she wasn't going to eat, so hooray for me.
I'm not sure since my big supermarket was empty. I was let in with an old lady so decided to wait and let her go first...she took what was left (lol). I have milk and bread so I guess it's old school tonight. My parents were meant to bring me some food but from Sunday they're in isolation with nasty colds (I hope). I have ham in the fridge but I'll give that to me dog as she's old of other food.
Scoured the restaurant's walk-in yesterday for anything still salvagable... got some spinach and the last of the oysters, so maybe some kind of baked Rockefeller thing? Also got some bok choy that is about to turn and a couple of quarts of shrimp, so I guess that gets blanched and sauteed with the shrimp, garlic, ginger and whatever brown sauce I can rustle together from the fridge? Hmm...
Had some eggs and potatoes for breakfast this morning, Not sure what we`ll do for tonight, should do omelets at some point with all the eggs, cheese, sour cream, and herbs we have.
Looks like I'm going full rogue with "brown" sauce component to the shrimp and bok choy. Found some sambal in the fridge, along with tamari and something from Trader Joe's called "Unique teriyaki marinade." Whatever... if it's brown, Asian, and spicy I'm sure it will be tasty. And, yes, I realize how crude that last sentence sounds.
This sounds like a reality cooking competition. Proper chefs are given a look at the normal menu (the one that the customers see) of a restaurant, told how many days it's been closed, and allowed to plan. Then they get to rush the walk in fridge, freezer, and pantry and do their best with what they find. Judges are food critics who don't know the conditions the chefs are working under. Hosted by... Jeremy Clarkson, who knows less about food than Guy Fieri, and Martha Stewart. Apocalyptic Eats, coming soon to Amazon Prime!
For real though, the restaurant shut down stockpile food is something else. Cooking more and eating better then we have in a while. Made a minestrone soup tonight, was wonderful. Still, have boiled eggs, might do some delved eggs soon.
