For any fans of good black and white films, I can thoroughly recommend Thunder Rock. Very thought provoking.

Just been for a bike ride... I had to get out! It's hard staying in touch with reality at the moment, let alone friends and family. I convinced myself the reality of what's going on is a huge cover-up of the earth's imminent demise. I took a familiar path along the river and scores of huge trees have toppled, blocking the way, with no obvious cause to their felling. One or two I could understand but I must have counted eight of these goliath, just lying broken across the river path. I thought I'd find some solitude out there (ironic I should be looking for that, huh?) but everyone else seems to heading for the wilds too. A family had set up camp in the woodland and everywhere I looked hooded youths gathered. The river itself, usually teaming with geese and ducks, was as deserted as the roads from which I'd come.

It's all very surreal at the moment.

Ahahahaha! That's exactly what happened here. We might be quarantined until the end of May...

Anyhow, I reread Tsutomu Nihei's "Blame!". I find it so fitting right now. Time to ascend some strata's, kill some silicon beings, find the net terminal gene and exit this realm.

How my quarantines been going. I`ve been trying but man it s hard-on I feel like even days where I do have some semblance of structure nothing "real" every gets done. Doesn`t help ADHD brains tend to sort things into piles of now and not now and in quarantine, everything is kinda not now. The things with the most sense of urgency right now our things I mainly cant do anything about yet, and problems with task transitioning makes working on hobbies harder then it should be.

Halfway through this and it`s still so rough man.

Does anyone truly understand the whole queuing at the supermarket thing going on right now? Or are they just accepting it without question?

    I'm not sure I do.

From what I can tell they're not actually limiting the number of people in the supermarket, only filtering them by letting person A get deep into the bowels of the supermarket before waving person B through.

But what's the point? Once you get into the supermarket you're expected to retain a two-meter distance from other customers, so what's the queuing for?

I've been using these various supermarkets for many years now, and when entering there's never been a situation where I'm forced shoulder-to-shoulder with other customers.

Why can't they just let people flow, while still enforcing the two-meter distance thing at checkout etc?

    So I was just wondering:

Vanity is an obsession with one's own appearance, right?

Well, what is a word for judging *other* people that way?

While asshole or dickhead are fine and dandy, I'd rather have a nicer way to describe myself.

Okay, jokes aside, I came up with a phrase "projected vanity" but that's really a stopgap... The language has something like a million words in it, and I'd find it hard to believe nobody coined a word for this!

I'm basically looking for something like "aesthete", but with a negative connotation instead of positive. I'm loathe to use "lookism". *shudders at the thought*
