On the subject of horses: They went extinct in North America over 10,000 years ago but were reintroduced by the Spanish when the continent was "discovered". This actually blew my mind when I learned it.

There are a lot of really weird things you learn when you go down the history hole. For example tomatoes originated in South America and noodles probably came originally from China, meaning that the now-classic Italian dishes of spaghetti with some sort of tomato sauce are technically Asian-fusion cuisine.

<Iain ducks and glances around. No sign of Homer yet>

    T'is true. :)

You were in on that "who ate the first potato" conversation the other day too, yeah?

Recent "the other day" or a years-ago one? I remember being in one of those but it was some time ago.

I think Iain was part of that potato conversation too - wasn't he the one who posted a meme that started it off? Thank you to the first human who tested what's edible and died for it. Then Wrey you chimed in with wanting to know about potatoes because to test-taste that was so counter-intuitive.

Anyway that wasn't really the other day - it's some time during the lockdown, but definitely over a week ago.

Don't worry, they're working on the 4th movie haha also a television series apparently. The show is going to be based on the Continental hotel though which is actually pretty cool. I'm not a huge crazy action movie guy but there's something very satisfying about well-done action movies with a good lead actor like Taken and The Equalizer.

Shakespeare did the ‘Yo mama’ joke long before the Internet.

Marsupial males (with the exception of macropods) have a two-pronged dingdong (bifurcated hemipenis) that corresponds to the equally bilaterally symmetrical internal accoutrement of the females who possess two vaginas, two uteri, with a third canal, the median vagina, being used for birth. This canal can be transitory or permanent.

    Now you know. ;)

Speaking of which, there existed a type of dinosaur that had the ability to regrew parts of the body so long as it's brain and butt was still attached. That's what Samuel L. Jackson was referencing to in Jurassic Park when he said, "Hold on to your butts."
