Sorry to hear that. I guess he lived a full, comfortable life as your pet and will rest in peace.

Oh great. More shipping costs! :p

Though we'll be in Northern Ireland, where I suspect the air is somewhat fresher. :)

It comes to over £11,000 for all the costs I know to date.
Don't get me wrong though. To me it's only money, but I am very frugal by nature so this is like the financial equivalent of killing someone to me. It's just disgusting that they can charge so much for it all.

I suppose the plus side is that we'll never argue about money, as there won't be any to argue about. :p

I think you mis-read that, @flawed personality . I think she said that with a baseball bat in hand, glaring at a picture of @Cave Troll

I'm meeting the financial requirements alone, so that wouldn't be relevant. I'll be the partner sponsor.

It's a family settlement visa, so it's a totally different ball game. Thank the Lord!
If not, I would've had a nervous breakdown. I can't see either of us achieving a degree in any subject.

Every time I think I've found a decent balance between the bullshit in my brain, I tip the wheelbarrow over the wrong direction and then I spend the day spiraling into a lovely mud puddle of self-disgust and I stare out the window a lot.

But hey! The sun's out. And it's hot as balls. Maybe I'll go get scorched.

Ugh, my back is killing me today. Like, right between my shoulder blades. Makes it very difficult to sit here and want to type or write in my notebook.

During a recent brief hospital stay, I mentioned to a doctor that I had taken (and passed) three Corona virus tests, and he replied, 'Great. You passed the least reliable test in medical history with flying colors', turned, and left the room.

Last night after work I opened two envelopes that may or may not have come from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, that contained, one each, two unemployment compensation checks that may or may not be real and not forgeries, for ridiculously high amounts. I immediately got depressed. Yeah, I probably qualify for some UC due to the schools closing in mid-March. But I never got around to applying. So what the heck am I getting state checks for?

Apparently it's a scam somebody's running, hitting states throughout the US. I have no idea what's in it for them, unless the scammers follow the checks up with a phone call that gets money back from the victims, either with them willingly paying it back, or having it blackmailed out of them because "naughty you, you illegally accepted funds you weren't entitled to."

All I know is that I'm going to have to waste time sending these checks back and filing a police report and all that in connection with identity theft.

I knew as soon as I saw the figures on those checks, this was going to take time and hassle. I was right.

    Not happy.

And the UK driving test is bloody hard. I know. I flunked it three or four times, twice with the same examiner. First time because it was dark and raining and he said my tyre was on a practically-invisible lane marking at a stop light, second time because he said my gear shifting wasn't smooth enough (I was horribly nervous and my foot was trembling on the clutch). I didn't pass until I a) took enough beta blockers, and b) took the test on a sunny day.

its a variation on the deposit scam that's been around for yonks - they contact you and say there's been an overpayment and ask you to return the difference (generally by western union).. you think its fine and safe to do because you have the check, then the check bounces

An English friend recommended them. First time I tried them for the test I only took a half dose. It was on a full dose that I passed.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Don't do that. :ohno:

But look at it this way: If you were really that stupid, you would have done yourself in by accident already.

As that French philosopher (I forget the name) said, it is always too late to commit suicide. Who was this?

    Rousseau? Voltaire? Ricoeur? (No idea.)

Okay, I looked it up. Emil Cioran said it, and he's Romanian.
