Hi In many cases have I found that I need slang from non-english languages, to give characters a more living language in the dialogue. Most countries today could also be described as multicultural so there is a need. You can google much of the bigger languages, but the smaller are a bit trickier. So maybe we can help each other here a bit. And ask those questions here. Remember all questions and answers in English. Right now I am in need of help with Serbian slang words for a police officer, cop. Something on the same level as English use of pig and filth. But also at the same level as American doughnut patrol, paw patrol and POPO. I have an Serbian bar owner that isn't so found of the police, but he is good at knowing who is a cop and who is not. He is faced by a female cop who don't know any Serbian, and I need a good word to insult her. The bar owner is sure enough that she won't understand the word. Can anyone help?
Kerovi? I don't speak the language, but that's what a quick search suggests: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_police-related_slang_terms
Russian and Serbian are very similar. (Languages of the same group). In Russian there is a very connected negative offensive nickname for police Garbage (Мусора) (pronounced as "Musora"). This nickname is strongly attached, as well as several statements associated with it (Musora zameli (Мусора замели)) tell when you were arrested, (Musora naehali (мусора наехали)) tell when the police extort money from you, (Musora presuyut (мусора пресуют)) when the police demand something from you and threaten you, (shuher Musora, Atas Musora (Шухер мусора, Атас мусора)) say when the police came to arrest you ...
Jebi se means fuck you. Picka means cunt and is thrown out a lot over there along with u picku materinu. Kuchka means bitch. I can't say I'm fluent in any other language besides English, but I know how to cuss is many of them.
"Idi u kurac" is apparently their version of "Fuck off/Fuck you." (lit: "Go to dick.") If they're anything like Ukrainians, they probably use it a lot.
