I've hired a proof reader and editor to help with my plot am I'm ready to submit for publishing but should I hire a copy editor just to make sure it's as tight as possible? Has anyone used Fiverr before? What do you think is a reasonable deal for 90k words?
tbh you shouldn't need to - in a trad deal they are supposed to pay for the editing... its part of what they do in exchange for most of the royalties. on your other questions fiverr is a portal site so the quality of service varies depending on you hire (this is also true of upwork and reedsy)... make sure you get a sample edit before paying over big bucks full line editting of a 90k manuscript should be about a grand so long as the manuscript is reasonably clean... if its your first book and needs a lot of work it might be more
I wouldn't pay for professional editing before sending it off for publication. I doubt an agent/publisher is going to say "You messed up the past perfect participle of swam. No deal!" A novel-length MS is going to have a few chinks. The publisher will take care of them.
Thanks guys, you just saved me $1000 i was ready to dish out. Gonna start looking for some agents. If that doesn't work out I'll come back to ask about self publishing
