The Skyview Drive-in near me has been showing classic movies all through the pandemic. Not sure but I suspect drive-ins still use film. Probably both.

Toho Cinemas, the local chain, runs a different classic movie every week. I've seen Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, All the President's Men, and a couple others.

And holy fuckballs this week is 2001: A Space Odyssey!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oh hell yes!

Thanks for replying. That is the plan. She talks in her sleep. All day long she does not complain or even say anything. But in her sleep talking she expresses how much pain she is in. She is pregnant and has to take hormone injections. Those are extremely painful by the looks of it.

Spent all day editing a video for my Youtube channel on PowerDirector 365 only to discover that (1) I need to buy the full pack to get rid of the watermark, and (2) Youtube won't accept it directly, so I have to jump through hoops to convert it. Know of any better video software? :(

Came home to a hand written note saying after years of constant talking about football I've now had enough goodbye.... I'm truly gutted we were together for 12 seasons...

Yes, I can imagine the pain she must be in. I know it's hard having to hear those things from her, but nonetheless keep her happy.

My first Lieutenant I ever had at the jail passed from COVID. His funeral is today and I don't think I can go bc I'm pretty sure I would lose it and be bawling. So just throwing myself into work today and trying not to think about it.

The work on my house is finally nearing completion. The areas where the plaster was stripped down to studs and lath have been drywalled and taped. It’s not stellar work; most of it is not hateful, but I have a lot to fix when I paint. They ran a bead of caulk down all the corners and the wall/ceiling seam. What’s worse is they caulked over raw mud. I could paint over it, but it’s going to separate in a few months, look like crap, and have to be redone anyway. That’s all going to have to come out and be fixed proper.

As long as they stick to high volume production work, (and learn to show up on time) they should be okay, but this kind of work wouldn’t fly even in insurance work.

the voice: accept your destiny, whatever it is.

me: But how? How do I do that?

    Relinquish your self-importance.

    So I am not important?

Not any more than the next guy.

I'm not comparing myself. I am asking just as an individual, am I unimportant?

What do you think is the importance of just the next guy?

Only the extent to which he boasts.

    And if he doesn't?

    Then he has none.

So you have no importance then.

Right. I don't. What do I do next?

Back hurts. Fell on my coccyx last week. Can't sit up for more than an hour or so at a time. Getting better, but it still aches.

    Not happy.

The coccyx is nature’s proof that some people should not own roller blades.

Why the wait? Somebody have to return the bytes before you're allowed to borrow them?

(Clearly I am not well-versed in this process)

It's a matter of licensing. The library only has a certain number of licensed digital copies.

Amazon has the audiobook free with audible trial. Available instantly. Kindle is $11, though. Or get the Kindle and add the audio narration for just $7.49 more.

Man, I hate those dickwads who insist on spoiling books or movies for people who haven't read/seen them. What do these idiots get from blabbing about a book or movie when they know it will diminish the experience for someone else? There's a special place in Hell, hotter than the rest, for those assholes who squeal, "Spoiler alert!" before they immediately deliver the spoiler without asking, or caring, if their victims would rather they didn't, as though that 'warning' excuses their selfishness.

I've got my second injection tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally pro-vax and looking forward to getting back to normal, but everyone I know has been getting smacked by the side effects so I'm a little concerned. Plus it's supposed to be 38c (over 100f) measured tomorrow, which means the heat index will be somewhere much higher. Today it was 36c with a "RealFeel" of 47 (over 115f). Not looking forward to having a fever in that even with the A/C on full blast.
