It comes with a conjoined magazine, but I can't find anything about whether two normal mags could be loaded separately or not. Almost all the "articles" on it are just copies of the same press release.
Wow, love those suggestions! Definitely love the double 45! Think that's just what I'm looking for. Though, not sure how it'd look if he had one of those dual-wielded with a regular old pistol. Maybe she has another double 45 that used to be his: "Hey! Is that my gun? I've been looking for that!" And also love the damascened idea. Came across something called an Astra 3000 chambered in 9mm. Perhaps a damascened gift from a relative? Just looking to differentiate all the pistols and shotguns lol.
I was thinking if it's the zombie apocalypse they could blunder into the mansion of a rich (and deceased) collector of exotic firearms. That gives you an excuse to have almost anything that you want on the menu. On counterpoint, when I was working 9-1-1 I learned that gang members are often very ill-equipped, weaponwise. Just what they can steal from dad or in random burglaries. We had a drive-by shooting that used a bolt-action .22 target pistol. About as useful as a football bat for an amped-up teen to wave out of the window of a moving car:
Christoph Waltz used a similar gun in 'The Green Hornet' but I don't know what caliber. I thought it was single shot though.
You should have a guy with a captive bolt pistol. Kind of like in "No Country for Old Men." It's made for crushing skulls. He could wear air tanks on his back like a deranged scuba diver. I guess it would have to be pneumatic then. There's different kinds. Now I've got to listen to the song. About the gun, not the movie, haha. Wonder why that youtube thumbnail self-destructs? Maybe it's just me. I've been testing different operating systems and my browser hates spying. Anyway, it plays. Gives you a good view of the weapon. Maybe the character is a McCarthy fan.
Interesting. They do eventually make camp in a mansion for one night before the climax of the story, but not sure I want to wait that long for Staci to get her weapon of choice. May not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I really want my characters to stay true to who they are. Not just in their dialogue, but in their movements, their fighting style, their weapons, their backstories, etc.
If he's a history nut, actual sling would be effective - but that thing requires years of practice. Alternatively, you can give him a warhammer, poleaxe, or some other historical blunt-force weapon - these would be very effective at dealing brain trauma (which appears to be the main vulnerability of a typical zombie), though again, some practice would be necessary.
Perhaps the weapon’s uniqueness could come from some DIY experimentation. Like a buzz saw blade tied to a jump rope or a modified nail-gun uzi? Might be difficult to find nails though...
That sounds similar to a kusarigama which may fit the character well. Especially if these are 'soft' zombies that are easier to slice and destroy.
In the zombie apocalypse, a failed DIY experiment seems to not bode well for a follow-up experiment. Unless you can get someone else to experiment for you. That's why I think experimental, non FDA approved vaccines will be popular in the Z.A. The experimenters won't have to risk themselves.
Looked that up, and that's pretty cool. Wonder how realistic/effective it'd be against small hordes of slow zombies.
Alright, for those that care (probably none, lol), I think I have any idea of all of the weapons: Jack has his dual-wielded double .45's barreled in 9mm. Also has a slingshot that isn't very effective, and/or a monkey fist that isn't very effective. Maybe just a bunch of diy weapons that never work out (maybe he actually gets a chance to use one later in the story). He wishes they were effective, so still tries to use them. Also has a hatchet when those two don't work. Mick has a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun and a sawback machete. Staci has a bullwhip, a gold damescene Astra 300, and a cutlass. Zoey has a combat knife and a pump-action shotgun. Andy will have a baton (and use brute force to turn a blunt weapon into a non-shitty one), and some kind of heavier gun (maybe a semi-auto short rifle?).
Please call the baton a truncheon or trench club (like from WWI). In the States police officers used to carry 'night sticks' but I don't think they have a lot of weight, so that term wouldn't create the image of a very menacing weapon.
Also (if you don't know) the Astra 300 is .32ACP or .380 auto (two different choices). .380 bullets have the same diameter as 9mm, however the two rounds are not interchangeable. 9mm shells are much longer and simply won't fit in the chamber of a .380. The slide won't close, the firing pin hammer or striker won't be able to interact with the firing pin, no go boom. .380 on the right, 9mm on the left.
Gotcha. Fuck that, lol. So, what would be a good way to refer to these guns? For the Astra 300, probably just "gold damascene Astra 300 .32 ACP," and maybe "double-barreled, .45 ACP pistol?"
The most usual double barreled .45 is the Arsenal Firearms AF2011 -A1 which comes in either .45 ACP or 38 super as standard... you can al;so get a variant called the Dueller which is 9mm - point of note about this is that the AF2011 fires two bullets on every trigger pull, not like a double barreled shotgun that has two triggers one per barrel
Gotcha, thanks for all the info in this thread, guys! One point of note is that I'll have to have my heroes account for their empty magazines. This ain't the movies (well, it is...but in their world, it's not), and magazines aren't readily available.
