I love Coeur de pirate. I've rarely heard her sing in English. I don't know. Maybe she does it all the time, but it's interesting that the Quebec accent doesn't come through more strongly. I can barely hear it at all.
Shiina Ringo (re: my avatar) put out a new track. She sure knows how to shape a song. I like that chorus in the middle followed by the rocking bit. Song's like a big crescendo, which I like. I'm hoping for a full album soon.
I have decided to dust off the guitar after far too long a hiatus. Currently trying to teach myself Warren Zevon's Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
Didn't say it would be an exact rendition. There are guitar chords. Sounds really bad now, but there is a famous quote by Vonnegut that gives me comfort. “Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
I have been to all four places mentioned in this song. Only one of which I would choose to live in. Tehachapi.
Sipping whisky and listening to Brad Paisley and Allison Kraus. "Whiskey Lullaby". Great voices and music. The video is a great six minute movie. "Amie" is a great one too.
Love the way it shifts halfway through from stick-up-the-ass 50's style pop thing to funky, groovy 60's style. Hell yeah!!
