I'm currently writing a fantasy novel where my MC grew up with a very strict and controlling(but not abusive) noble family and aren't used to making their own decisions and being in control of their own life. Would appreciate any ideas on how to show this after they've left their family (overcoming this is a big part of their character development)
-questioning everything character does ("is this what im supposed to do?" "i can do this on my own?" "people do this?") - constantly getting lost (they arent used to doing things on their own without direction, so they constantly get lost on the ay to the store, for example) -differing to other people when making decisions/watching other people for guidance (asks a friend or watches the general public to understand what they are supposed to do) -mostly doing things they've always done in a strict household (old habits are hard to break)
To be believable, in my opinion, the MC could not be the heir in this family. I would say it fits for the 3 or 4th in line. The first two would be trained to be decisive.
