Greetings all. Hinkypunk Productions is embarking on a passion project to bring short stories to life in audiobook format. The aim is to support small indie writers by producing high-quality audiobooks and audio dramas across multiple genres. Our hope is that this will one day become a profitable experience and we will be able to pay royalties for funds earned through the final product media. For now though, it is all volunteer with full credit. If you would like to submit your short story (between 1,000 and 7,500 words), please send it through with a summary to (link deleted)
That is the UK Film company. We are an independent South African production studio that has been around since 2018. We are not affiliated with this company or the Hinkypunk Studio in Italy that was founded last year.
I was able to find the Italian one and (apparently) the UK one on a basic search. South Africa does not come up
We are still in the process of setting up a website. We have been operating in our own community doing small-scale productions since 2017 (proper branding came the following year) with no real ambition to go larger than that. This is our first large-scale production effort. We now have the resources to do it when we never had before.
i'd wait until you have a website before advertising for submissions. you'll get people like me who will google first (and what I've found raises a ton of red flags)
Yeah, we probably should have thought of that. We are eager to start and are still working through logistics. Thanks for the feedback. Watch this space. Lol.
Sorry, sounds like you're doing this by the seat of your pants. Structure, logistics and business plan FIRST. How are you going to monetise this, when is this going to happen, how much money will you need to do it, and how are you going to get it? "Some day" isn't good enough. There are other vanity publishers doing this, what makes you different? Above all, get your management and legals sorted out. If I was going to send you something, it ain't going to be on a wing and a prayer. I would want to know what happens to my work, who gets the right to do what and for how long, how much for, and I would want that in writing. BTW, posting a recruitment post without a website and from a gmail address is not the way to gain credibility. If something goes wrong, I want to know who you are and how to find you.
That was my first thought. We are in the process of getting The 1st Promise published as an audiobook, and it is expensive to produce.... Oops, I see the account has been banned.
